Peekaboo bras S/S 06

i am not so much for this look...
i remember watching 'sex and the city' and always wondering why carrie's bra made a special appearance in every outfit...
it was always on display and it ruined the most beautiful, elegant ensembles...
it never looked proper... a bit unkempt and a bit vulgar...
(certainly there are more vulgar things in this world, but...)

conceptually i like the idea of underwear making a statement...
but i've only seen it look very unsophisticated...
it is one thing on the runway... another thing in real life...

I actually don't like how Kirsten did it... that nude color looks too utility for me, it looks all wrong, IMO. If it was black or red, it'd be great... but that color.. is almost dingy-like...

I personally love the look. I just may be daring enough to try it out. I've done similar looks before, but always feel a bit uncomfortable with it. Hate people to get the wrong impression about it.

I was about to say the same thing about how Carrie sported this look in Sex and the City and i didn't like how she displayed her bra either. She also wore see through shirts, skirts and dresses and you can see her bra and underwear on those as well.

Kind of like when she wore this fish netted thing over her bra.

I like the way Preen did it..but not on the others. I dont even like how Kirsten did it..it looks a bit odd to me. It makes her look like shes wearing the wrong bra for her top.

anyways, i agree with you nuitblanche. i really love that look, but i have to say that its only ment for girls who are flat chested. if someone with boobs wore it, that would be considered trashy depending on the way she wore it

if someone with big breasts flashes her bra, the focus is mainly in her breasts

Oh I'd totally wear it. I am a 32a... so I have really small breasts. I like wearing a fitted tanktop with the neckline under the top of the bra... It has to be the right bra or it's trashy looking. I also like wearing button up shirts with it low enough that the bra peaks through a bit. I guess nothing too flashy.. I try to make it subtle, not trampy... But I guess my style is usually on a more sexy edging over trampy side (I like wearing thigh high stockings and short short minis...), so I guess the look isn't really for most people...

Ohh my face peekaboo bra lok is with a slip.. you know those slips that have the bust part as lace? I usually wear a black bra under those and I don't think it's trashy at all. I think it's really subtle.

A good friend of mine wears really loose fitted tops with semi-plunging necklines with a black bra partly visible underneath.... Very cute since she's got the style to pull it off without looking tacky!

ashley olsen with a very peekaboo bra. it has the elements of being workable, i think, but she just looks sloppy. maybe if she had styled her hair and buttoned up just a notch or two.

For me, This revealing of the bra has to be done casual or "by mistake", if that makes sense. When it becomes to obvious it looses it's surprising touch or any connection to the rest of the outfit, it becomes one, with no connection at all.. it doesn't speak... the answer is already given before the question is created and it's in the question that any fashion statement becomes interesting, not in the answers. Most of the runway photos posted here makes the bra the focus point, with out any relation and not very interesting... and by the way, "trashy' can be quit stunning, maybe I have another way of defining "trashy" than other people here who are using this term..
