Help! Where do I find stylish petite clothes? Why is it that petite has become synonymous with "old hag" when it comes to fashion? If I am in my early 30's and a size 2, I do not necessarily want to look like an old lady. Why don't they make cute, stylish clothes for young petite women?

Mary Kate and Ashley sells some really cute stuff at Wal-Mart, if you are small enough. It's really tiny though. :flower:

I like expensive nice clothes but if I were small enough I would wear some of the MK and Ashley line, very trendy IMO. :flower:

If you look young you can get away with junior clothing. I'm 25 but I'm so small that I buy my jeans at Abercrombie cause they have size 00 and Guess clothes come pretty small. Also Arden B and Jcrew has petites- oh so does Ann Tayor. I would suggest buying basics at these stores and tops somewhere for the more mature woman.

Very "petite"

My problem is the following: I have a really hard time finding pants that fit, given my size. Even a 0 petite at Ann Taylor's has to be taken in, and is often barely long enough with high heels. Any suggestions? Sometimes Juniors clothes fit, by the style is a little off for me (I am in my thirties). I prefer a more classic, yet youthful style.

My mom is a petite as well, she usually shops at Petite Sophisticate. She's quite small and not long ago people thought she was my sister:lol:.

Anyway, if it is your style I think you should try that store, It has a sort of professional look. I think their clothing will fit you because they specialize in petites. Good luck.

Thank you. I have shopped at Petite Sophisticate as well. I was wearing a black suit from there today, as a matter of fact. I'm just tired of going between Ann Taylor Petites and Petite Sophisticate, and was wondering if there were any alternative.

People often think I am much younger than my age as well, since I am slender and small! I have fewer problems in France, but... I live here.

LOL! I was just about to suggest a trip to france

I sometimes have this problem too, and I've had a lot of luck getting trouser type pants custom made by a tailor. It's usually about $100 so it's not cheap, but I think in the end it's worth it to have trousers that really fit.

Absolutely. My husband had pants made for me as a gift for Christmas, and it was a revelation. I typically have to get alterations on all the pants I buy.

I was wondering if there were any good quality online stores for Petites, besides Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and Petite sophisiticate.

thank god im not the only one i am 5"3 and i find it hard to find clothes i go through fases when shopping, happyness at going shopping, then frustration, then impatient, then upset, then i just despir and buy nothing and go home in a foul mood.

i'm barely 5foot tall and weigh less than 100lbs, and i have the hardest time finding clothes. i shop in the kids section a lot, especially for jackets, and can usually find clothes that don't look too young. getting jeans and other pants shortened is really the only thing i can do. most xs sizes in tops usually work. i don't like clothes too baggy and that ends up happening a lot. it's really frustrating. i hate petite sophisticate clothing and i'm getting tired of shopping in the junior department, those clothes tend to be so ugly.

Petite - Need Help finding Jeans please!

Hi all.

I need help finding the perfect jeans. I am pretty petite and tiny and everything I try on doesn't seem "tight" enough on me. I mostly want slimming, skinny jeans esp. around the legs. My friend who wears a lot of designer jeans doesn't think I'd find Sevens, True Religion, R&R, et al slim enough either. I recently even tried on Express' ultra slim jeans and found those loose on my thighs. Do any of you have any brand suggestions? I am not hippy, don't have much of a butt, short, but not super skinny (no one would ever call me a stick since I am fairly busty). I wear size 0s in jeans and pants. I'd appreciate any advice on which brands to try. I am really at a loss.

Also any advice on how the bottoms should be of the jean? I mean what would flatter a short person the most, straight cut, boot cut, flare?

Thanks!

The Loft Jeans

Yep, this is a dead post I'm assuming. I stick with Ann Taylor Loft jeans. I wear size 2P and because I know they fit perfectly, I never have to try them on!!! their jeans and pants can be a bit expensive if you don't want to spend over $40, but you can also catch them on sale for $20.

A lot of the lesser known brands such as moto and mavi come in very small sizes, they generally go down to a 24 (00) and have slimmer thighs.

Agreed, as a petite person myself, i've found a few good jeans from stores like Macy's, Kohl's, and even TJ Maxx or Marshalls. The one brand I've had luck with is Paris Blues in terms of fit. My butt tends to look saggy in every jean i try on as well as the thigh area, so i normally go for jeans with a bit of stretch in them. If you want jeans tighter around the legs, then you'd probably stay away from flares, and instead go for boot-> light flare. A little bit of flare looks nice with a pair of heels.

Here's an example of what Kohl's currently has on their website. Paris Blues Lita Flare $24.99 Sizes 0-17:

Have you tried Hollister? I'm petite and the short ones fit me better then any other jeans i've tried lately. They are slim fitting. I have no butt and they don't sag on me! That's a rare find.

True Religions are smaller in the thigh...I have skinny legs and find these jeans fit well.
