Pitti Immagine: Thom Browne in Florence F/W 09

guis, pitti immagine is a huge trade show in florence and they invite particular designers in each annual event,to curate a special installation. a.f. vandevorst...margiela...v&r...they have done this in previous years.

thanks scott. i read about it, i guess it is different from their yarns/fabrics show? like i wouldn't think of thom browne regarding textile design, well who knows

well i believe this particular event thom and the other designers prior was involved in is separate from the actual trade shows and textile fairs.

i must agree that TB is not the designer to thrill the audience with brand new concepts everytime he presents his collections. but it takes time and effort to cristilize his vision and i respect him for that. maybe it's getting boring for someone, but at the end, the impact his work has made on the industry's aesthetic (which most people concidered impossibly wrong at the start) does prove TB has the right to do what he does.
i loved these pictures, even though they speak of an idea rather than the pieces. but that's what you get from Thom. it's not the suits that are interesting, it's the idea of a suit that stands out.

personally,i have no hatred towards he as a designer because he is a great craftsman. however,i am just bored the gimmicks and the lack of balance his work has. if he wants to be a quirky designer why doesn't he actually do that in an entirety rather than the odd look or two? it's confusing. i mean its the same problem i have with v&r...quirky gimmicks here and there for the sake of fashion and not really a distinct approach. its dishonest, and its impersonal in my eyes because what you get in shop is nothing like that at all.
