Plaid Flannel / Buffalo Check

big flannel shirts are a classic look for men and can be done well, imo... love that pic that someone posted earlier in the thread w/the french guy

the lumberjacket (did i make that up?? :p) i will always find weird though. like the ones with the quilted interiors...

flannel for women is trickier. i think the key to making it look good is that the colors need to be very dark + the piece has to be interesting... like a cool short dress or a top with tucks/pleats/something in black/navy/grey/etc.

i got a buch of amazing vintage flannels the other day...
i kind of want to cut them up and re-work them into something totally new. any ideas??

First idea that springs to mind is a dress, perhaps adding a waist ?

you could easily enlighten yourself by doing a bit of research my dear...this is pretty much as basic as it gets......:innocent:
maybe then you could share what you have learned with the rest of us...

Would a girl be able to pull these off? They'd probably not be small enough anyway.

.

well, what i meant is the history of the textile...i know plaids have origins in scotland and whatnot and how they are related to peoples family names, much like a crest would be. but buffalo plaid, i have no clue...i looked it up and it just says it's a traditional print...i didn't mean literally, like what's the difference between a check and a plaid, i was curious as the the history of the textile pattern...

...nevermind...

they are both adorable urban...:p

jcrew does run big though..

^^yeah, and unfortunately the only sizes left in the buffalo check are m, l and xl

i wear them all the time...mens size...with skinny jeans or leggings...

oh dear! just as an aside, i come from a place where there are actual lumberjacks and oil rig workers running amok and they all have closets full of plaid and checked shirts... i'm pretty sure they buy them by the kilo at the same place they get their steel toed boots and canvas coveralls... good times, Alberta! it's not a trend here, it's just something your dad/brother/husband/boyfriend/uncle/guy next door puts on before he goes to work... sexy...^_^

I can't actually see what it looks like from this picture...
but I think I might like this buffalo check tie
