Snapped by the lovely HandbagQueen

When I read the title an excited smile appeared!! Just last night I watched Suite Francaise. So glad to see her on Porter.
Of course there's much going on here (what's up with Porter's past few covers??), the weird and gigantic Rosie the Riveter arm ruins the graciousness of the image. Or maybe it's just because the cover is somewhat bent? But I love everything else.

It might be the angle of the snap but her hand looks huge next to her face
I like the styling and the way the leaves frame the cover.

Its a beautiful cover image of her, she looks stunning, but I truly resent the "On Loss & Moving on" tagline, how pathetic to keep putting her in that box! Almost, a decade later!

Jeez, will Porter ever make me buy (and keep) their magazine... I do usually like their editorial photography, but covers are just so not worthy.

i think in this case, since she's campaining hard for her abysmal (and inexplicably praised) performance in manchester by the sea that's about grief and loss, it's actually in her favor

as for the cover, it might be that i'm so over her, but it tells me nothing. Ryan could do so much more

^ I didn't know that, heard about the movie only in passing, but thought it was random to have it brought up on the cover. Makes more sense now, thank you.

I think she's a very good actress, but her image per se is never interesting enough to entice me to buy a magazine with her on the cover, and certainly this won't be the one that will make me change my mind.

This pic doesn't do her any favour. Also the colours are off, it's too much.

Can't wait to see a proper image of the cover.

I think she looks beautiful and the content of Porter is usually pretty stellar, so I'm excited for that!

^ Thanks for posting, i liked it better in the snap, actually!

Yes! I noticed there is this wave of actresses, not unlike those from the 80s (Sally Field.etc) who are incredibly bland in print, and certainly no cover stars! Yet they have great charisma, and obvious talent on screen. So every time i see Alicia, Emily or Emillia (to name a few)on covers, I'm never inclined to buy. Even their interviews are painfully boring! Perhaps its why it lend a way for all these Social Media stars to become such in demand cover girls. And they might be just as bland, but can be marketed in more exciting ways due to their IG prowess or reality TV families.etc

Thing is, these type of actresses were always around, especially in the 90's. But they were mostly overshadowed by Julia, Nicole, Sandra, Renee etc etc. You would never see Gretchen Mol, for instance, on covers and campaigns, and that was fine. The problem we have now is that the actresses of this generation (Anne, Rooney, Michelle, Scarlett, Lupita, Kristen, Emma etc) are expected to take center stage when they're seemingly not into it. Most of them are not able to carry multiple ventures, despite getting all the inducements. Jennifer Lawrence and Marion are probably the only ones who have got that solid old-school leading lady appeal, but I really cannot think of another. So I agree with Miss Dalloway, they are the reason we see the rise of SM/VS/SI models.

Certainly not the worst cover of Porter I've seen but I'm not the slightest bit interested in seeing/reading anything about the ever-dull Michelle Williams.

Why did she cut and bleach her hair again :( :( She went from cute Eddie Sedgwick-like with that hair to dried out Andy Warhol wig now. I wish she'd keep her hair Long and in its natural shade.

The cover and story ared kinda bland, cute but bland.
