Prada S/S 2009 by Steven Meisel

i like to discuss the pictures as pieces of art (when they're good), composition, coloring, photographer, how the garments are presented, what mood it portrays, its' power (or lack thereof) and yes, also how the model is presented.

i always considered modeltalk to be pretty much done in their respective threads. you can squirm to your heart's delight about those girls in their own threads, i wouldn't even say a word, hell, i doubt i'd even set foot there.

but it just irks me when the majority of posters only talk about the models here.

well, i didn't read through the whole thread, so i have no idea of what was previously discussed. i just saw the pic on the 1st page and voiced my opinion at that point.

i don't know how a person can discuss an ad campaign without discussing the models in said campaign ... and until you've got MOD written under your name, please don't refer me anywhere. i'm more than familiar with this site, thanks.

i believe Ana was talking to carmen_kass, not you. no need for bitchy remarks. :flower:

^yes, I was referring to carmen_kass' post and generally picking up on latest discussion.

sorry for being snappy, AnaBGD. i find this place moderated quite enough by the mods themselves, i just get agitated when other people take to doing the same thing. however, Street_a_Licious is completely right, there was no need for my rude remarks. so i apologize. :flower:

I think the ad campaign is nothing special, but I have to agree with those who traced it back to Greek and Roman sculpture. That was my immediate reaction.
And actually, it made me think of this iconic 1931 Vogue photograph of a Vionnet gown (obviously inspired by classical drapery).

Perhaps the creative team at Prada didn't see this connection until the runway show. And then they came up with the idea.

Prada keeps on evolving. Last season’s campaign with industry standards Linda Evangelista and Patrick Petitjean was all about mature refinement but for S/S 09 the brand shifts gears towards a youthful interpretation of luxury. Enlisting the season’s most prominent fresh faces to portray an elegantly coiffed series of sirens makes for an inspiring visual. Viktoriya Sosonkina, Toni Garrn, Ymre Stiekema, Katrin Thormann, Nimue Smit, Sigrid Agren and Giedre Dukauskaite represent everything Prada stands for. Drawing inspiration from ancient stone reliefs and classical art Meisel creates an enthralling vision. With the first picture giving us just a taste of what is to come, we cannot wait to see what else the maestro has up his sleeves.

I am big fan of this campaign - i love multiply models campaigns. And i love almost all the girls involved. Great cast! :woot:

oh you're perfect ........
i've been searching for an image since i saw the campain ... and absolutely not thought about a Vionnet photo (though I thought about Vionnet ....)

thanks pastry !!!!! :flower::heart:

oh well there might still be hope, there are still the eyewear ads and also there should be one more group shot no? The print dresses from the collection have not been shown yet.

That article did not mention A M J.

I believe they were just listing the girls in the first two released images of the campaign. Jagodzinska replaced one of the other girls during one or two of the days of the shoot. :flower:

Can't wait to see the men's ads, I wonder if Patrick will be used once again.
