Prada S/S 2024 Milan

The sheer pastel dresses are definitely the highlight of the show. Too bad the show looks really disjointed. Much like the team, it looks like they tried to 3 collections into one. The tailored pieces are beautifully constructed, but they end up feeling like skippable filler.

terrible. they have to be kidding with those fringy gimmicks and the collection as a whole really. those eyelet pieces and the floaty dresses are so unoriginal I can’t.

only a couple of interesting things and everything was mediocre, to be kind with it.

with the last couple of collections it seemed they were heading somewhere but I guess they got lost. again.

It's a great collection. This is the best collection that I've seen coming out of this collaboration.

My favorite looks are the pastel ones. They're quite chic and reminded me of the former glorious Prada. And the sheer numbers are also great.

This should be Fabio Swan song. I wish we had a chance to see a Prada/ Miu Miu collection under his sole direction. Seeing him and Miuccia together is quite touching. I'm really scared now that he's gone who will balance Raf's influences on the house?

The diaphanous dresses are my fave too. They look like jellyfishes floating about.

On the other hand, though I loved the belted shirt shorts in the men’s collection earlier this year, seeing them here with the gelled, slick-back hair and headbands make me think of Galliano’s Maison Margiela.

I just see the same three, four looks on repeat, with minimum variations.
It's interesting that Patrick Van Ommeslaeghe has posted a pic of one of the floaty dresses on his IG account: those dresses, in spiritu, are totally his ground, from his time at Jil Sander as ww director. Again, Raf is just recycling ideas from his own past, not always, unlike this instance, very successfully.
And Fabio is only right in jumping off this sinking ship that Prada has (creatively) become.

Sorry for saying the same thing every time but idk yes there are a couple nice things at face value that I love which is positive and what rele matters, but somehow the overall aura of Prada ruins them for me too. Just because I feel like the idea doesn't come from where it used to. Prada has always been expensive but the point in the end was to be realistic even as a conceptual proposal. With the way they've set up their current business model, their runway collection reads as a marketing stunt more than ever, which really inhibits my ability to receive it well lol. Because at its core, who and what is this for? Who's gonna wear any of this besides ambassadors or instagram victims? My old SA and I still chat even though I don't buy anything anymore and he's always telling me less and less people are actually buying the clothes because the price point is so high. It's all mostly shoe/bag/wallet/basics sales. ...I think I just need to reevaluate what's going on here and accept the fact that it's not what it once was (which I thought I did before but I guess not lol) and I can finally feel differently about what I see.

Absolutely in love with this collection! Very surprised! I need to see this in person, the details look exquisite. It feels more like one cohesive, solid collection than most of their recent ones.

This reminds me about of 20’s Prada inspired collections.
Wonder if Raf will be designing Miu-Miu as well?

It is just variations of 4 looks LOL

Then again, that’s consistent with what he’s reduced this label to since he came aboard. However, it is the best and strongest effort he’s made to still allow room for Prada’s (heavily recycled) warmth and charm to exist rather than usually be cannibalized by his coldness. HIs oversized bombers can fcuk off, while admittedly, the rest of the looks are good, some even…great. I'll take it.

I suspect that more of Prada’s old-self peeping out for this offering is a tribute and courtesy to Fabio’s last contributions. It’s likely back to Raf’s cold and stiff brickhouse silhouettes for the next Season.

Not the slime again... This could have been an e-mail, or a co-ed show. It doesn't make sense to put two shows separated by months if they're going to recycle the same ideas all over again. Even if the clothes were not that appalling, there's no excitement and the execution could have been better. I wonder what will happen to the brand now, when Fabio left the design team but I'm not optimistic at all.

Best season so far - they clearly minimised Raf's input and, what you've already mentioned, bowed to Fabio's ideas for the season. I like it, obv it is repetitive but that's how they build the brand, by literally drilling the same silhouettes all over again so customers can buy all the time new variations of the same transparent skirt, dress, embroidered jacket etc. Their sales are rising whether we like it or not, Prada has become corporation and all they care about now is cash, cash and even more cash.

Just here for Fabio and to give him his well deserved standing ovation :clappinghands::clappinghands::clappinghands:

Grazie per tutto e buona fortuna!

PS: Is it just me or isn't the slime quite symbolic for what's happening at Prada right now....

I don't know. It's not a bad collection but it's not standing out either. The problem with them is that without a clear and precious direction, it never going to work. Their shops are now filled with lackluster nylon bags and crystal-embellished bags. And the price is insane. Like seriously, I don't know any one who wears Prada any more. Even when there are fabulous pieces like the cloudy dress here, it's not even their core product.

Really tightly edited collection. A concise vision. Lots of Spring statements like the fringe belt with short - seems like it may be a truly important look. The cloud dresses will look good in magazines.

I didnt like the suiting material shirt and short looks - the fabrics didnt look right despite the nice silhouette. I dont mind a consistent silhouette and actually prefer it. Great pieces that are well made. Few looks though makes this seem unfinished.
