Queen Rania Of Jordan

I'm not sure why people insist she's an impeccable dresser. I guess for a royal she is, but otherwise she's rather boring and predictable. She'll belt anything and everything, wears the same pencil skirt in different colors and tons of Elie Saab.

The green evening dress was very unflattering, does nothing to her body and is ill-fitting. The drapping at the bottom looks very unproffesionally done.
To me, this is Rania trying to hard to blend in with celebrities when she is a Queen which is Royalty.

I do agree she is no pecial dresser, quite boring at times and yes she does belt everything even evening dresses

I agree.
I don't want to veer too much into politics but I find truly obscene how she lives the celebrity jet-set lifestyle while the situation in the country she is supposed to be representing is absolutely appalling.
Neither the Windsors nor the Spanish Royal Family would ever dream of such extravagance and they live in rich countries.

As for her style, it's expensive and slick, and suitable for her position. Nothing more, nothing less.

i believe it's the other way round, events for women and taking a stand for women is something she does all over the world for the UN. she's a spokeswoman and ambassador for women/children if celebrities attend of course they want to be pictured with one of the world's most powerful and influential woman and of course she's also royalty so that would be a nice picture for their photo albums to tell their kids and grandkids.^_^

i agree Chic as a person with middle eastern ties I observe first hand how she is good role model for women and children, especially muslims. Many do not have visions of women working and being educated members of society, much less influential people in the world. Therefore her rubbing shoulders with celebreties is neither gaudy nor declasse but instead it serves to use her presence as a means of making a difference. She has introduced many concepts that are deemed "cool" in America into the middle east, such as the importance of going green.

None of the European Royal Houses would. Only Belgium. The rest are very sober.
Queen Rania seems to be a very kind and intelligent lady and dresses nice but that's it with me when it comes to her.

At least she's doing something! The rest of the Royal Houses sit on their ****s and spend our hard earned money doing nothing at all. Is that better?

What I and dazzling85 were getting at was not so much who she was rubbing shoulders with, but the effect of who she rubs shoulders with on her fashion sense. The green dress was a terrible fashion choice, but to her it might've seemed fashion forward keeping her company in mind.

but she is in that country period. where are the politicians who talk about fighting to end poverty/hunger/give aid/eduacte etc etc? where are those countries leaders for that matter? how else is she supposed to spread the word and ask people to show compassion for those in need of it? she could travel by boat, camel or donkey depending on the destination but come on:flower: celebrities who fly all over the world just to be seen on the red carpet/fashion shows/shops do it for themselves, rania travels for the sole purpose of helping others (unless she's on holiday but who doesn't need that every year?).

as for the windsors, spaniards & other royals the richer the families the bigger the bums as far as i'm concerned. they just travel from one part of their countries to the other and their own people (bar the media) barely pay them any attention.

^Just saw your post, ForChicSake. I am afraid you completely missed my point.

I personally fails to see how attending one glamorous party after another (Met Gala, 'charity' galas, etc.), doing photo shoot with Hello magazine and other gossip rags at least twice a year, vacationing with Bono in the South of France, etc is doing any difference or raising any profile aside from her own.
On that basis, any socialite is 'making a difference' just by living the high life.

She certainly is involved in charitable causes (like all members of any Royal family) but when you see the situation in her own country, you'd think she'd be more useful preaching to her husband than on Oprah's couch.

When it comes to finances, European Royal Houses are given allowances and have to keep records and explain themselves when they go over budget.
In Jordan, there is no real division between public and private finances so the Jordanian don't have a say as to how their 'hard earned money' are spend by their Royal family.

As for other Royal Houses not doing anything, what an truly ignorant statement.
Google is your best friend.

Is Rania beautiful, well dressed, well-spoken, intelligent? Is she a fabulous ambassador for Jordan?
Yes to all of these.

Is she a great, selfless humanitarian?
Well, only if you chose to believe the hype.

I can see how you fail to see what it is she is doing. Firstly, I think you either have to be there or at least look into the matter. Her job isn't just getting Jordan running - she is an ambassador for the entire Middle East. No one else has taken this task. She is the one debating Islam, poverty, women's rights, all the prejudices she has faced...she is not just a socialite, she and her husband are responsible for an entire country! And she is the only one doing it. And about the finances...she really can't buy so many clothes that she ruins the entire country. She's no Farah Diba.

She clearly isn't attending fancy dinner parties every day of the week, and she certainly doesn't vacation with Bono 5 times a year, that is just untrue.

And btw...the European royal houses can spend as much as they want, no one would EVER reprimand them. I'm so sick of paying half of what I earn in taxes so the royal danish family can sit at home and smoke 40 cigarettes a day. That is all they do. That is not ignorant, that is a fact - you can google until your eyes fall out, but all the boards and associations and unions they are presidenting...guess what, it's all for show.
