R.I.P. Heath Ledger

i just wish that he had a loved one, companion, someone who would have been there with him and could have caught something. a significant other or close friend.
that's my worst fear.
to be found dead and alone.

I'm watching my local news right now, and the passing of Heath is being discussed alongside other unfortunate deaths of people in my town. So maybe, in some sense, he didn't die alone, and is actually finally free from his celebrity status.

was he already dead at 2:45pm? no pulse does not mean lifeless.
But, the NYT article says that, while she arrived at 2:45, she didn't enter his bedroom until 3:00. And then took time setting up the massage table before trying to wake him. So it could have been, what, as late as 3:10 by the time she tried to rouse him? And obviously, the times are estimated anyway, because who remembers what they do down to the minute? She could have entered the bedroom at say, 3:08. And by the time she finished setting up, it could have been 3:15 or so.
I'm not sure, unless she was just so frazzled and beside herself she didn't know WHAT to do, so she decided to call someone who lived close and who had a bodyguard/EMT who could come assess the situation? Maybe she didn't want to call the paramedics because she knew the paparazzi would swarm, so did what she thought was best? I don't know, people do strange things in times of stress.

I think too much about this stuff.

i really think we need to stop asking 'what if' and questioning the details . .
it is not going to bring peace to anyone who is suffering right now

good point. how long will the person have to be dead to be stoned cold?

i am not putting forward a conspiracy theory, but i just found it strange that there was no mention of someone taking his pulse, etc. before the EMT arrived.

people can be revived after varying durations of cardiac arrest. the issue is whether the brain is getting sufficient oxygen in the meantime. that is why CPR is such an essential skill.

There's no point in pointing fingers now. What's done is done unfortunately, and there's nothing that anyone can do to change it. This isn't all some big conspiracy. People did or didn't do what they thought was best at the time they found/heard about Heath. It's sad but unfortunately true. We all should be focusing on Heath and all the good things he did in his life because they "could have"'s will just drive us crazy...

UPDATE

No illegal drugs were found in Heath Ledger's apartment, according to NYPD.

Theinsideronline.com also says that tests on the $20 bill which was reportedly found at the death scene concluded there was no drug residue present.

Heath Ledger will be buried in his home town of Perth, Australia.

Sources say the actor's body has now been transported from the New York medical examiner's office, where an autopsy was performed this morning, to the Frank E. Campbell funeral chapel.

The website claims that preparations to ship Ledger's body are now being made.

Michelle Lee, a representative for the Australian consulate, told PageSix.com: "Our consulate has been in contact with his family and has offered assistance to help fly the actor's body back to Australia."

No need to worry about that psycho cult now. If they turn up in OZ their *** would be grass. Aussie don't take no sh*t.

I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. As I mentioned before, I think people find consolation in different ways, some by private meditation, others through public dialogue. Also, how are the factual details surrounding Heath's death any less truthful or valid than the peace we all hope for him and his loved ones? I don't believe the dialogue has gotten to the level of lurid speculation. And all the people saying 'what if' are just expressing their loss in a different way, I think.:flower:

I, for one, am interested in the details for the possibility of shutting up all those terrible paparazzi about drug use or suicide.

i'm sorry, but this statement [in red] baffles me. i lived and know ,as well as the locals, that Washington Square Park is known for "- --------- ---- ------- "... in the wee hours of the morning or night if you are not walking dogs and just walking about type of thing. i must say it was more rampant than, than it is now.......

Inside Heath Ledger's Sleepless Nights

New York's Washington Square Park is sometimes a haven for the stray homeless to get some shut-eye, curled up on a bench somewhere. For Heath Ledger, it was a place to roam while sleep evaded him.

"He would walk early in the morning – around 6:30 a.m. or 7," says retired city-worker Tony Rivera, 52, who walks his dog in the park each day at that time, "because, he said, he always had trouble sleeping. That's why he'd come out so early in the morning."

Once in a while, Ledger, 28, would watch the early-morning chess players in action – sometimes even joining them. He often talked about his daughter, says Rivera, who struck up a chat with the actor during one of his sleepless strolls. "He said it was a great thing, being a dad."

But Ledger's friendly banter with park locals was always punctuated by one recurring complaint: "He'd say, 'I'm very tired,' " Rivera recalls, "and he looked it."

Yes Washington Square Park is fairly dodgy but it feels like it is the only green patch in the whole of the East Village. I don't think that is abnormal to go there. Does that mean Tony Rivera is also suspect? I think not. I'm not saying he didn't. I am just saying that we are unlikely to find conclusive evidence either way so there is no point speculating.

Michelle has arrived at her home.

As predicted the pricks over at TMZ were there and have it on video.

Because it isn't really our business. Dribs and drabs are getting out because the press is digging - hard - but none of it really should be getting out.

Who the hell ARE TMZ? We have all been horrified by them in the last couple of days but I had never heard of them before.

i'm just FYI-ing for what i know as facts. it's my neighborhood ...

The level of attention and coverage is insane.

President Gerald Ford didn't even get this much attention last year; it says something about the world we live in when a celebrity gets more coverage than a world leader.

whether it's our business has little to do with the ethical responsibilities of the press.

the press should be given the freedom to report events and the police are compelled to investigate occurrences like this. privacy is one thing, but i don't think controlling the flow of information is right either. since we live in a democracy, we allow entities like TMZ but punish them if they cross the line.

i also hope you are not suggesting that the NYT is like TMZ, as most of the details we have been discussing have been from the former publication.

I really feel for Michelle. I loved them as a couple. So unhollywood. So untabloid wannabes. I loved them even more when they chose Brooklyn neighborhood to reside over Hollywood Hills. Perhaps, if they did stay together it will work out well for them. But demons are hard to shake when it runs your life.
