Until today I had no idea who he was..

Sadly both guys died very young, and of overdoses accidental or not..

I think Heath didn't expect his fate to be similar to Nick's

I was so shocked to hear this earlier; and I just watched the evening news here and I cannot believe what the masseuse did, calling MK Olsen 3 times! I've def made a note to self to never, ever call anyone but 911 first in an emergency no matter what.
Apparently the masseuse was not licensed and her real name is Lee? If she was, she should have known CPR. What a tragic set of circumstances.

Sorry, Heath and Nick were not alike to my mind. I really think all the comparisons to tragically shortened lives of actors/artists is just opportunistic bottom feeding by the media. Anything to make a tragic event even more so, eh?

RIP, I feel terrible for Michelle, can't imagine the strain of hearing all this hearsay in the midst of her own work and taking care of a child.

ETA: I am outraged that the Westboro Church is going to Australia, is there anything we can do to stop them? Maybe I'm going out on a limb but can't someone deny them entry into Australia, write to the embassy here?

^actually one of the popular radio shows DJ"s rang one of the people from the cult and she was on the radio yesterday. She was disgusting, insulting gays left right and centre and saying things she shouldn't about Heath. They even had their gay commentator try and have a normal conversation with her, and she just kept insulting him! these people are truly brainwashed, and are sick.

They warned her that if they come to Australia, that we Aussies don't take any **** and we all love Heath so be prepared to be spat at etc..the woman was so psycho, her and her psycho church are not worthy of anyone's time or efforts.
THere was an American girl today that rang the same radio station saying that this church/cult represent a very small minority and that everyone in the US hates them and they also spit at them and throw stuff at them , last time they were on the news was for a soldier's funeral.. so I will not be surprised if they turned up to Heath's funeral but , don't worry they will be taken care of :)

eeh , im watching E news and im shocked that they actually showed pictures of michelle and her daughther aswell as the funeral home's name- they should have kept it quiet and they shouldnt have posted pics of michelle and matilda..its so wrong i think

^^I'm so embarrassed as an American. We have waay too many cults here, its sick.

I wonder, can't they refuse them entry based on the fact that they are inciting a riot? Ugh, I just am so so angry about this. Maybe I will write the embassy here a letter. I don't know what to do, I don't want this to happen.

^I know what you mean regarding Michelle and her child but at least its only the ones of her in the SUV, I haven't seen any other. Re: Frank E. Campbell's, it was the obvious choice I don't think they would've done it anywhere else.

I really do not understand that in both the Anna Nicole and Heath's death, these people felt the need to call someone far away instead of EMS. All I know is that time is precious when you are trying to ressucitate someone after they are unconscious. That was a poor miscalculation on the lady's part and MK should have told her to call 911 instead of calling her private security people, WTF?

^I'm trying very hard not to descend into the gossip, but I will say when you are faced with a situation like that you can sometimes either freeze up or do something really really dumb. That being said, call someone else once is understandable, twice you're stretching the limits of my belief, and 3rd and 4th times something isn't right. I just wish the media could postpone all the rumors until at least after the funeral and the police are done w/the investigation.

I just finished watching Brokeback. It really sunk in even more while watching it. I cried. That we wont see his beautiful face anymore is just not fair. Too soon, way too soon.

Heath Ledger's Family Pours Out Grief

Heath Ledger's family members bared their grief in an Australian newspaper, writing of the heart-wrenching loss of the Hollywood actor – who to them was always a brother or a son.

In one of several messages in the death notices section of the West Australian on Friday, his mother Sally wrote:

Our darling boy, special in so many ways to all of us. You knew you were so loved. You lived life with courage and daring and we are so grateful for the wonderful times we shared. We will be there for Matilda.

His older sister Kate, who called her brother by the pet name "Roast," wrote:

I can hardly breathe when I try to write this. We were the ultimate in soul mates. I feel both my heart and life have been torn apart. I loved our special talks, our daily chats from where ever you were in the world.

I especially loved all the precious time we spent together. We were so fortunate to have you as long as we did. You were so many things to so many people, but to me you were just my little brother.

There will never, ever be another "Heath" and I think that in itself is the greatest tragedy.

I will continue to talk with you everyday and love you just as if you were here. You will never leave my thoughts "Roast", ever.

A Message from His Father

His father Kim, who called his son by the nicknames "Heatho" and "Beef," writes:

My beautiful boy, so loving, so talented, so independent, so caring, so young . . . no more chess games mate . . . this is it, couldn't beat you anyway!

My body aches for the sound of your voice, our chats, our laughs and our life and times together.

Your truly varied artistic skills, insatiable desire to improve and eclectic abilities set you apart from any other person on the planet . . . it had only just started for you ... and for us to further enjoy. We were one, in soul and commitment. Just . . . Father and Son. I will love you forever, Dad.

His Entire Family Writes

And a note signed by his entire family read:

How do we describe our sudden and tragic loss? ... You were the most amazing individual "old soul" in a young man's body.

You so loved us, as we dearly loved you. As a close knit and very private family unit we have observed you so determined yet quietly travelling in your self-styled path in life, nothing would get in your way ... no mountain too tall, no river too wide.

You dreamed your dreams and lived them with passion and intelligent commitment. We have been privileged to accompany you on a ride through life that has simply been amazing and through it all, we have loved each other beyond imagination.

Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken.

^ I know what you mean..it's so sad, my heart goes out to Michelle...I can relate....

i am quite surprised that his family published such private, intimate thoughts . .
they struck me as very private, like heath . . so i am shocked that they feel comfortable with the whole world reading their personal reflections so soon after this has all happened
in any case, they are beautiful words . . it breaks my heart to read

i loved his dad's comment about the chess games . .

Ah this is so true! He was (I hate the past tense  ) indeed an old soul.

I just want to remember Heath for what he gave to the world by his gift and talent, for infusing life into so many different characters for us. His movies are his legacy that we can remember him by. All the talk and nitpicking isn't going to bring him back. All we can do is to wish those near and dear to him strength to pick up the pieces and move on because those left behind are those who have grieve the loss. And hopefully, Heath finds peace and happiness wherever he is now.

So they are sending him home, that's good but of course sad. I hope Matilda gets to spend alot of time in her dad's native because it seems like a cool place.

Perth is a cool place, I went there for a holiday with my family not long ago, it's a lot quiter than Melbourne, but it's fantastic for some time out. Just ask Belowen :flower:

Adorefaith, your post is making me more sad  but thankyou for posting it, I wish even more now that the media would leave them alone :(

the comments from his family are so sweet.... reading them makes me feel teary-eyed

apparently, his funeral is today in new york city (boston globe)

I think they are doing services in NY....
but then a funeral and burial in AUS.

eeh , im watching E news and im shocked that they actually showed pictures of michelle and her daughther aswell as the funeral home's name- they should have kept it quiet and they shouldnt have posted pics of michelle and matilda..its so wrong i think

I have not seen an entertainment show or even a news show that didn't show those clips.
ET, Extra, E! and even "news" stations like CNN and FOX news are showing it.

Matilda is about 2 yrs. right?...
How do you even explain to her that her daddy is never coming back.
I don't think she can quite grasp that yet.
