CNN host Anderson Cooper set his foot down last night, refusing to cover the death of Heath Ledger until hard facts and new evidence turns up.(thumb up) Here’s what he had to say on the 360 blog:
“For the last two nights we have reported on actor Heath Ledger. His shocking death is clearly a story a lot of people are interested in, but tonight we will not be reporting more on it. The truth is there is not really anything new to report.
The full results of the various tests done on Mr. Ledger will not be ready for perhaps a few weeks and there is very little new information. I have no doubt other networks will spend a lot of time tonight discussing his death and the various rumors about what might have caused it, but I am not a fan of speculation, so unless there is something really new to discuss we probably won’t be covering it anymore anytime soon.”
Star Jones also wrote a similar piece about Heath on HuffingtonPost.com.
Says Star, “Might I suggest that we in the media, instead of reporting on the dead based on gossip, rumor, innuendo and anonymous sources, choose to honor this man’s memory based on his talent and the good taste we all should be exercising. My heart goes out to the family of Heath Ledger.”

They did the parallels between Heath's and Anna Nicole Smith's death.
I shut off the TV right away.
How can they do that?....

Wow..
I'm officially not watching ET, access, etc.. nor will I buy mags that exploit the situation rather then embrace his life. I know I'm only one person but this is disgusting, and people need to start telling the tabs that this ISN'T what we want to see.

The media needs to shut up and leave his family and his memory alone, cause most of it is just gossip though there have been very few good articles that talk about his career which is good to see. More of those and less of useless gossip that spreads damaging rumors.

I agree. I was watching one of those entertainment shows and I had to turn it off cuz they kept making it sound like he was a troubled soul with a big drug problem who wanted to die. Totally making stuff up just to get people to watch. It was sickening. I truly believe it was an accident.

What kind of an accident? Maybe he had to much pills because he couldn´t sleep and died.
Even so, he must have been in a great stress and psychologically not well.

I know it's his right to takes the meds but that has just been my experience.

I think the tabloid news channels and websites won't stop with the story until a real cause of death is revealed by the medical examiner's offices.

For now speculation will run rampant especially with the Mary Kate connection....how she was called 4 times before 911 is the big story today.

All the speculation is very frustrating. Particularly because this coverage seems like exactly what he hated about celebrity. Infotainment.

This man had real sleep problems. Cutting out sugar and caffeine would never help.

I deal with insomnia a lot, and I absolutely HATE to take meds but at a certain point you're too exhausted not to. Plus the psychological effects can become very problematic especially when you have to go to work/school or even just be around other people without acting like a complete jerk... If the problem is severe enough I agree that smallish changes like eliminating caffeine won't really help.

I think whether you had real sleep troubles or not....

I hope that's not the case.

Is it just b/c he is a celeb they will release the cause of death? Or is that public info for anyone?

His family's words were very touching.

I'm glad they're having services in NYC, LA and Perth so all who loved him can pay their respects, and there's clearly a lot.

Its good he's being buried in Australia. I hope Matilda will go to visit often throughout her life.



And I know, I know its speculating, but I'd love to know why the messeuse called MK 3 times before 911!! And why her and not Michelle (or Gemma). It sucks that the police released that information b/c it just leads to more confusion and gossip, cuz you know MK isn't going to talk about it. Maybe the messeuse will someday.

I thought about his love for chess and how he'll never get to teach Matilda and almost lost it.
I heard he was a very good player- almost grand master.
I imagine he played with Helena Christensan's son who is a chess prodigy.
I wonder if Heath could beat him.
