why not? their necessities are covered better, if I were black I would be proud to have Ebony and Essence, "those are your Vogues, be happy"
Being obssesed for attention of Vogue is like having low self-esteem, wishing and wanting what people of other race have is envious, not correct.
I'm proud to be latin and I don't want my Mexican culture covered by Vogue,I'm pretty sure it would be bad done so I'm happy with our own magazines, it's like the Grammys, the latin categories were not aired and latin artists were not happy, what happened? the latin grammys arrieved, we also have Mtv Latin, Latin American Idol, Desperate Housewives Latin America, Latin Vogue! etc, etc that's for us, customized for us.
and If I prefer to consume things intended for other race/culture I have to accept them how they are, period.![]()
How do we know what race/culture US Vogue is intended for? Do you know something I don't?
I would think the audience would be English-literate North American women?I also don't think I have to accept anything as it is--and neither does anyone else. I may not be able to change things I don't have direct control of, but if I have valid feedback and withhold it, I'm not helping make things better.
I subscribe to US Vogue, and I think it's improved over the past few years in terms of diversity--not just race and ethnicity, but size and shape and all the other things that make us different.
As a white woman, I straddle the fence ... I'm in the ethnic majority in this country (I think I still am ...
), but I have been in the minority in the workplace, and as a woman you always get the flavor of that experience, regardless of your skin color
And so I absolutely believe that when you're in the majority, you need to challenge yourself ... to see and understand other viewpoints, other ideals, other approaches, other personalities, other perspectives ... Other period. This applies to US Vogue, and millions of other endeavors. I think everyone should do this, but when you're on top, it's easy to get lazy. When you get lazy, it probably means you won't be on top for long
