Radiohead

^and she's such a genius producer/composer,but i as well, cannot for the life of me,enjoy her music as in depth as so many others can. i dunno what it is...like there is some sort of thread that's missing for me to connect with as a whole.

i really think classic radiohead isn't in the beginning, more towards the lasts cds. for instance, i have a friend that says she loves radiohead and her favorite cd is pablo honey... i find it a bit confusing.

why is that confusing? i find pablo honey to be an excellent record that really did put radiohead in the spotlight. if you liked first two albums, you will easily like all next.

i never said it was a bad album, just not what radiohead has become. their style doesn't have that much to do with that particular record anymore. so, if you say that you looove radiohead and pablo honey is your favourite, but you don't like idiotheque i tend to think that you've hold on to the past and think that they are still that band (and they are clearly not).

^absolutely. Pablo Honey is highly generic (and very flawed in terms of writing and arrangements) and at the time it came out, it didn't sound that remarkable next to other 'brit pop' acts that practically died the moment the 90s did (suede, supergrass, blur, etc.), OK Computer seems to me like the departure record, where they finally divorced from that scene and jumped way ahead on the road, that's why they became so global I think, because they weren't just channeling a trend but challenging general standards of music understood by anyone in any language, that why I love Kid A so much, because I think it sums up everything that they've brought to the world of music, a complex sound that very few musicians were doing so commercially.

I have even more respect for Radiohead after the whole Miley Cyrus situation.

haha seriously, 'im going to destroy them!!'

are you going to cry, you little crybaby?

anyways i can't wait for the shows to start in SA! new songs????:woot:

here's the story..it's ah,well hilarious to say it best. hell yes thom, put them in their places, thank you! why does everyone think they deserve the right to be "met". exactly as he said she nor kanye deserve entitlement just because of who "they" are. effin ego maniacs

Radiohead's Thom Yorke Schools Miley Cyrus & Kanye West on Humility

03/13/2009 12:00 PM, E! Online

When Radiohead refused to meet Miley Cyrus and Kanye West at the Grammy Awards last month, the starlet threatened to "ruin" them and the rapper refused to stand for their performance. Now the In Rainbows band is fighting back.

Cyrus kicked off the feudin' during an appearance on the Johnjay and Rich radio show and rambled on for more than six minutes about how the band dissed her after she begged her manager to set up an introduction.

"I'm like, these are the people I really want to meet," she said. "I'd freak out. They're my rock gods. These are the only people that I would cry over…My manager asked and said, 'Miley's really obsessed. And they were like, 'We don't really do that.'

She continued on in disbelief about the Thom Yorke band's lack of interest in meeting the Hannah Montana, admitting she was so disappointed about the diss, she left the show early.
"I left 'cause I was so upset," she said. "I wasn't going to watch. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone."

The three-time Grammy winners responded by putting the teen in her place…

"When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement," the quintet said in a statement.

But the Radiohead beef buck doesn't stop there.

During the taping for his episode of VH1's Storytellers, West complained that Yorke snubbed him as well.

"When he performed at the Grammys, I sat the f--k down," the rapper said.

The British "Creep" singer, already in full retaliation mode, concluded a blog post on the band's website with a wink and a nudge to both stars. "Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing," Yorke writes.

Bring on the next round in these wars of words ('cause you know they're coming)!

and does she really expect everybody to believe she actually listens to them? i doubt it.

I don't see why we shouldn't believe that she listens to them. They are an amazing band!
I'm having a hard time believing this story, I just don't think that Thom would take time out of his busy life to respond to something Miley Cyrus said about them.

gosh, this is such a funny story. I can't believe she would actually say that. Such a disillusioned little child. She actually thinks her music is relevant. This reminds me of how at the Oscars she kept mentioning how she was hoping to be there the next year, nominated for the hannah montana movie :ninja:

anyway, love in rainbows more and more everytime I listen to it. I begin to dance feverishly when Bodysnatchers comes on :P

thom's comment on DAS

wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people i have managed to offend by doing nothing xx

Thom

hehe love it!

^ha! love it too!!!

he's right,he has the right to meet whomever he and the guys choose to...or not. and really can you imagine thom yorke even talking to miley cyrus or kanye? what the hell would they say exactly....she dribbling on about something completely mindless as she always does and kanye claiming how cool he is because he likes radiohead.

who the crap is this teen barbie project? how embarrasing and lame: destroying something you like. wtf???
it is less than a week for the show and i'm bursting with anxiety-but it might pass as a dance if you put 15 step in the background.

Some news, courtesy of greenplastic:

Radiohead have revealed they are working on new material and planning a summer tour.
Guitarist Ed O'Brien told Newsbeat the Oxford band would be hitting the studio soon.
"We are working on new material," he explained. "We'll be doing some more recording. It's business as usual.
"We've sort of finished the bulk of [In Rainbows] touring," he added. "We will be doing a little bit of touring in the summer, watch this space!"
O'Brien was speaking at the launch of the Featured Artists' Coalition (FAC) lobby group in London on Wednesday.
He is joined on FAC's committee by artists including Blur's Dave Rowntree, Kate Nash and Billy Bragg.
"At the moment a lot of rights and revenue streams are being carved up in this new era," he said, "and I think it's really important that we're in there fighting our corner.
"Radiohead signed very traditional record company contracts, and it was exactly what we wanted to do at the time and there's no bitterness, but I think there's an inherent feeling that they're just a bit old school."

I wonder where they're touring during the summer. I may have to schedule my summer plans accordingly.

Miley and Kanye are so hilarious. "I say the f--k down!" -Cue earth's shattering-

there are some really funny pics of them on the beach in rio.
i can't wait anymore!!!!!!! i'm afraid, they'll be playing creep.. i wish i could trade:innocent:

I'm having a hard time believing this story, I just don't think that Thom would take time out of his busy life to respond to something Miley Cyrus said about them.

I agree. According to Pitchfork, it was the band's publicist that responded to Miley's comment. They are too cool.

they were great, the audience wasn't. in fact, i've never been so disgusted of the human race before. what a load of beasts! the evening would have been more than anything i could have hoped for if it wasn't for that audience that didn't even pay to see or listen, just went for free to push people around. as i manage to escape in a very graphic way (trying to squish myself with a lot of resistance between zombies to escape to a calmer place as they were playing there there) i was able to enjoy the rest and oh my dior!!! they played 2 + 2=5!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaand the best of all for me was: PYRAMID SONG!!!!!!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!! idiotheque got me completely crazy. ed spoke in spanish a bit weird and thom said hola in a very seductive way:shifty: it's hard to forget that greeting..

^he reminds me so much of alison goldfrapp when she does interviews! even the explanation of what everything means at the beginning....sounds like something she might say. i hate invasive interviewers though...ones who try to pigeonhole something in a neat little box and bow.
