US-socialites favourite dressmaker... I think she´s not bad, but also not amazing... I like Narciso Rodriguez minimalist designs better than hers...

4/10

NEXT:

Helmut Lang

6.5/10- Interesting cuts, interesting styles and getting better as the seasons progress. Give them a few more years and I'm excited to see where they'll be.

Masaki Matsushima

p.s. Mb117... you gotta give Lang more than just the rating. I love Lang and would probably give him the same score, but I'm curious why do YOU feel he rates an 8?

(About Masaki Matsushima)
I love how he's ubermodern and traditional at the same time. So unique, creative, and functional...
8/10
Now, how about Donna Karan (I like hearing opinions about the more mainstream designers as well)?

6/10 Inconsistent, a quite sometime brilliant designer, she's good but not great

...ummm...Alberta Ferretti

Very elegant. Work seems so delicate/fragile...
7.5/10
Jhane Barnes

can we all try and post more 'accessible' designers in order to get this going?

i mean who in the world is Jhane Barnes

Okay...
Isaac Mizrahi :innocent:

much appreciated castorpollux :flower:

Mizrahi: 2/10 flat, non-inventive, too 'commercially' inclined for his own good

Clements Ribeiro?

Interesting husband and wife team. Their work is harmonious, yet clashes. Eclectic, which I like. 6.5/10

How about Libertine (by Cindy Greene and Johnson Hartig)?

5.5/10
i've seen some clever ideas coming from them but i dont follow their work too closely

Maurizio Pecoraro?

Maurizio Pecoraro?

7 out of 10...I think he makes beautiful dresses, nothing TOO spectacular, but I dont think he really has a defined look (ie: who is the woman he is trying to dress?) But, I do see potential, so I say "Give him some time.."

If we can do Coco Chanel, then how about Elsa Schiaparelli?

nice colours and prints cant really see why people liked her work though

4/10

Vivienne Westwood (i dont think we've had her yet)

4/10? BEEEEEP: Wrong answer VICTIM...The correct answer is "10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10+++++" Haha--just kidding..:flower:

Westwood? 9/10..How many times have we seen the punk influence in nearly everybodys collections? Need I say more? Plus, I think her clothes have a certain look & feel that transcends age & race. Definitely in a league of her own

Madame Gres...

Old label. Originally very classical and fluid gowns with great attention to detail. After purchasing said label, Yagi Tsusho (a fashion distributor) developed it in Japan (up until the present day) and tried to remain true to Gres' original vision, while simultaneously modernizing it...
Very fluid drapery with an obvious Greco-Roman influence (particularly s/s 2004). Artistically I can see where it's coming from and appreciate it in that sense, but I don't care for it as real "clothing". It's sort of archaic, but still unique.

5.5/10

How about Ralph Lauren? (I don't really consider him a designer at all, but would love to hear someone's real opinion about his "work") :innocent:

1/10 :D boring mass market manufacturer, nothing near to deserving being labeled as a designer

Victor & Rolf ??

9/10 a dynamic duo, they are visionary, and uniquely talented, beautiful clothes and great showmanship...I  their work

How bout mmm....Stefano Pilati for YSL

8.5/10
Very wearable and elegant. Sort of retro (~50-80's?) w/ a modern twist of course. Pays homage to the label's origins/history while maintaining some of his own identity/vision. I like those belts (a/w 05-06)!
Emilio Pucci

6/10 obviously great prints and everyone wants one of his printed chiffon dresses.

Ann Demeulemeester

I love her romantic, creative vision and the fact that she´s always been consistant about what she does... The collection is getting better constantly (although I didn´t like S/S 2005 that much) and those new accessories...

8/10
