this is def a trend here in nyc...

if you wander the shops in the Lower East Side you will find lots of pieces like this...all by jewelry designers you have never heard of...
seems like everyone is jumping on the Subversive bandwagon...

*i have to admit that when i see the subversive pieces...it def reminds me of arts and crafts at camp and makes me want to tear up my old stuff and put it back together..
and i guess i'm not the only one...
based on how many people are giving this a try...

here is the subversive website...
the designer also just won the vogue award for young designers...
http://www.subversivejewelry.com/

have you seen stuff like this?
please post what you have seen and/or found...
:flower:

Wouldn't it be easier (and cheaper) to layer all of your own gold necklaces?

It's a nice idea to mix old pieces and thus create new ones. I love vintage jewellry with a story behind it. But I'd love to see how the jewellry looked like before they mixed it all up, so you can see which items make up one necklace, for example.

Not surprisingly, I haven't seen this as a trend around here ...beside myself, to a very small extent :D, but I did come across this on eBay - Cut steel shoe clips refashioned into a bracelet! There's tons of cheap shoe clips on eBay (As no one wears shoe clips anymore), so it would be very easy/cheap to do!

that's interesting....
and a nice piece as well...

thanks for sharing...
i will try to find more stuff to post..
maybe it is still too new to be widely seen yet...

ie- i haven't seen much on the internet...
mostly in smaller - more fashion forward boutiques...
but- boy...is it all over those places...

so...coming soon to a mall near you...
start hitting your local flea market and get those pliers out!

:P

Subversive has gotten a lot of attention in light of the "pile it on" jewelry phase that we had a few seasons ago.

not actual vintage...
but in that style..
