Really good, rich moisturizers?

What about the Doctor Hauscka (whatever it is) Rose Cream? I read good reviews on it and it looked really good....does it make you glowy?
I Looooove it! It has really improved my skin :D
Some people don't like it though, and feel that it stays on top of the skin, making it look/feel greasy.
On my skin it doesn't do this - but i have sensitive/dry skin.. So on me it goes right through and i've never felt a better cream for my face. Really calming, and moisturizing.
So you should maybe just try a tester of it, to see if it will suit your skin. :flower:

is your skin dry as in tight, or dry as in flakey? i have tight dry skin. i bought hydrating b5 gel from skinceuticals and apply it at night, then layer on my panthenol protein cream from kiehl's, and right before bed put on some anti-oxidant skin preserver, also kiehl's (really thick vaseline-like stuff). i'm still feeling tight when i wake up though.
the worst part is that sunscreen is out of the question because it always feels really drying on my skin.

my skin is more dry as in tight-feeling. but it hardly ever feels that way any more.
for sunscreen, try sunscreen by the skincare brand La Roche Posay (if that is available near you, in Europe they are sold in pharmacies etc.) It's really good and never feels drying. At least not in my experience

Does anybody just do the basic Vaseline at night thing?

I get really tight, dry, and flaky skin in the winter... I agree that La Mer really works, but I recently invested in a humidifier and I promise it works wonders, you wake up with the most gorgeous, dewy skin... like you just got back from the tropics

also, Jurlique Calendula cream is pretty good too for about a third the price of La Mer, it's very thick

Nivea Creme with Jojoba Oil or The Body Shop face cream and Shiseido.

before you make that promise - i have a humidifier. it's right by the bed. no improvement in my skin. my eyes (like the literal eye balls) are less dry when i wake up - but no improvement in the tightness of my skin. no dew.

HiHeels, I shut my door and keep my room at 60% humidity... maybe it's not as moist in your room? I also use La Mer while I sleep, so that might also make a difference

jkitty - that is a totally fair point. i have a big big room.

I thought I primarily had questions for this thread, but I'm back with a big old answer. This might be irrelevant now that winter is leaving (unless you're in australia, I suppose), but I have found the answer to my dry skin needs:
Glysolid
My dermotologist uses it herself and recommended it to me. I have to order it on a Canadian web site (www.feelbest.com). It is so so good. She also recommended a sunblock by la roche-posay, which I've just put an order in for from the same site, so I will let you know when that arrives. But this glysolid stuff = WOW. :woot: You have to just put it around the dry/pulling areas, so I use it exclusively around my eyes and my mouth (where laugh-lines might show up in a few years). It's inexpensive and for the first time I have zero tightness. It's not even a face cream, but rather an elbow and foot type of thick cream for "dry skin" but my doctor said it's basically glycerin, which is a major humectant. I    it so I wanted to share.

Burt's Bees carrot night creme:smile:

first day using my new sunblock. la roche-posay (that's the company/brand) anthelios "L" spf 60. this isn't a sunblock thread, but this is a good sunblock for people with dry skin, so it's still relevant i hope. anyway, i used the glysolid stuff last night (just under my eyes and aruond my nose/mouth) and then in the morning i just pat my face with a warm wash cloth and let it dry and then apply the sunblock, so i'm not really removing the thick moisturizer that i had on last night. so layered this way, the sunblock feels comfortable and non-drying, but it might be due to the combo i have on. (anyone with oily skin reading this would pass out!)

I'm currently using a moisturizer for normal to oily skin by Johnson, but I'll need a new one soon and decided to try a new product as I'm not quite satisfied with this one.

Has anyone tried Garnier Nutritionist? How is it?
And what about L'Oréal Happyderm? Is it good for slightly oily skin or does it make my skin even more oily?
Plus, my skin is dry on the cheeks, so that should be included, too.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

If you have dry/sensitive/combo skin.

the texture is so fine it doesn't block your pores. (Said to me by clinique spokeswoman)

Why spend so much money to products with long INC list while you can have it in reasonable price..and in natural form.

Shea butter! I love it. It really doesn't clog my pores and is very very nice :woot: I only started using it this week but I see improvement
