Rick Owens F/W 07.08 Paris

I don't like leather, I don't like fur, I don't like the silhouette. That would be three strikes against any collection.

However I appreciate the construction and so that's why it's a good one in my eyes.

The models as Clydesdale horses though...

I can really imagine that Sienna Miller's getting herself one of those short black leather jackets, if she doesn't already have one.

I'm not keen on the skirts but this collection is all about the jacket so yes...me likey...

You're right in that he might have spent a bit more time on interesting bottoms instead of that shapeless draped skirt but the jackets do stand out and are always extremely luxurious yet casual.
Although the Poiret-insect illustrations that played such an inspiration are perfectly demonstrated her, I'm not sure why bathmat mohair and shaggy shoes are popping up so much generally...just not very attractive.

i love the jackets...the whole collection makes me feel like i should be living out on the tundra or something, riding horses or doing something primitive and rugged!

I love some of the jackets! They are really nice...

But I'm not keen on those brown carpet/muppet style ones. And the shoes might be fun but they're also dead ugly.

Wow those shoes are incredibly ridiculous, but the jackets and coats are dreamy :)

I've never really been a fan of Rick Owens, but I love the silhouettes of this collection, especially the collars. To me, this is a better version of what Francisco Costa did at Calvin Klein.

But the shoes are ridiculous. :yuk:

I really, really hate the boots, even as simply part of a runway presentation, but there are some great coats here. Some outright hideous ones, too, but nevertheless.

i love rick owens but to me he's always about the jackets. anything else he does pales in comparison and is just sort of there to show off the coats and jackets.

kind of yeah- though some of his knits are also really great- his jackets are always teh centerpiece of the collections.

These hairy flipper boots though are just ludicrous

The shear-lined (???) bombers resemble those of the fw 04 Balenciaga collection.

This leaves me neither hot nor cold.

I like some of the outerwear, but there aren't enough of the beautifully draped dresses/skirts that I love from him, the ones that are there look unpolished compared to other seasons.

i love how he describes the palais royale line ... "it's just something for them to do" ... totally passionate about it. and it's nice to know it's by a design team.

I see that as well, I guess that's why I love them..

Scuba chic. I know the jackets are great and all, but I can't stop thinking about scuba gear, what with those hariy flippers and penis hats.
