roberto menichetti's burberry prorsum

i am doing some research on menichetti and wish to gather all his collections for burberry prorsum including any detail information on the specific farbrics etc he used... wondering if anyone can help me out.

been searching all over the web and cannot find much... i strongly feel he started something back then for burberry prorsum, unfortunately getting cut short and somehow haven't quite picked it back up with his own collections... and c.bailey really managed to turn prorsum into something really bland and boring... sigh...

Do you know what dates Menichetti worked for Burberry?
Any reason you're curious about the fabrics? Sounds interesting..

i think he worked there between 1999-2003. he was the one that debuted the prorsum line. the fabrics were all techo-mix but highly functional and adding edge to the classicism of burberry at the same time...

I have some pics saved, but basically the merits of his clothes are largely spoiled in the pics. now that they are difficult to see in person, I think videos are much better if they are available somewhere.

jil sander's first mens collection was one of my favorites of general mens collections in history, off topic though.

Techno-mix.. sounds cool Aren't they doing that a bit in the recent collections too? I remember some fabrics with odd finishes in spring 07, like a strange sparkle and using athleticwear fabrics. Do you have your eye on any specific garments Menichetti designed? I was going to suggest looking through some history of fashion books, like Vogue History of 20th C Fashion by Jane Mulvagh-- I'm thinking I saw some shots of Burberry there, but the time period shown in this book was 60s-80s

i fully agree w you and the pictures don't do the clothing and designs any justice at all...

do you have any idea where the fabrics were sourced that RM used for prorsum? or did they develop them in-house at burberry? any specific companies, sources?

the first three looks are from F/W 00.
(the last is F/W 97)

I don't know if it is strictly traceabe and there is a simple answer.
but anyway, besides their main factories located in the US and UK, they had several factories in some other countries, one of which was in Gubbio in Italy.
it's the one the Menichettis operate. and he was working for prorsum in his atelier in the town. I guess he tended to use things which were at hand. prorsum line under the helm of him was extremely small scale production.
