Honestly, despite the whole népotism issue, Vilmorin has given us better fashion than most (probably all) of Gen-Z's designers. It's nowhere near the level of Theyskens' Rochas (or Theyskens in general for that matter), but no-one today is.

I’m kinda feeling the late-70s vibes. I do feel that besides the prints, it’s a very non-descript collection which I wouldn’t necessarily associate with him…it’s maybe for the better seeing his namesake brand.

This is definitely better than last season. Some of it looks very nice. Some of it less so.

Rochas offers him the ressources to create more achieved clothes compared to what he does with his own name that feels very crafty.
The prints are not great, the styling is weird and the whole lookbook is not the nicest to look at but there are ideas and potential. He has talent…More than a lot of designers from his generation and more than that, his fashion has an identity.

I’m rooting for him!

He comes from De Vilmorin family, an illustrious French family that made it fortune in the botanical world since the 19th century I think. And that family has had strong ties with the fashion world thanks to Louise de Vilmorin, who was like a wealthy socialite and writer who discovered Alaia and helped him get into the Parisian elite scene. And she supported a lot of designers too.

So, I think his parents worked in fashion and of course he had some connections.

But nepotism doesn’t matter to me. Thank god Charles learned something through his connections.
Nepotism is good when you have people like him rather than people like Julia Roitfeld for example.
