Rochas to close

You all are certainly welcome. It's beautifully written.

I think Rochas' closing is more tragic than I thought, it really illustrates the death of fashion as we know it. It's not a surprise, Terri Agins aptly wrote about it, but it's a sad reality. He works in the exact same way old couturiers did, it's amazing, he's a genius, no doubt about it. But it's also such a shame.

You have to wonder about his reluctance to to develop more commercial products, but you must also be impressed by his integrity and commitment.

i think both those statements are priceless...
..it was quite emotional reading the article actually...very beautifully written..
love how it ends on a positive note.
*definitely hope that he doesn't wind up at valentino. that would be more tragic than the 'death' of rochas.

That article was so touching, inspiring, and saddening. I got the magazine this morning and was so thrilled to see Olivier on the cover!

I totally agree. The article was amazing. It really got me interested in his earlier work. Does anyone have any pictures of his first couple of collections that were under his name?

hmm....i know style.com covered a couple..
.plus fashion file(.com) has a couple theyskens videos i belive...
but i don't think they're his EARLY work..

that's as much as i can help. =)

Thanks so much! :flower:

Style.com worked out just fine. . .

I should have looked there first but I didn't realize that they had collections from like 2000.

I am sorry but I find the article quite "protective". I think the writer has created an YSL-esque image of Olivier Theyskien: a young, sensitive and subtle man, who needs an buissiness superwarior to be able to live.

Oh please. He is 30. He managed his own things before, he has some money, he is talented and he is famous. He will make it.

Great article.

What I think it doesn't adequately account for, though, is that there is not a single path to success, even in fashion. Look at Alaia for an example of someone who's been successful for many years, and undeniably marches to his own drummer ...

PS Not to be subversive :D but if you feel like boycotting P&G, switch to organic and natural products like Mrs Meyers Clean Day. Your laundry will smell delicious, it's healthier for you and the planet, and it's a stick in the eye to P&G ... what's not to love B)

Lars Nilsson is leaving nina ricci and rumor has it olivier theyskens might replace him...

haha Nina Ricci? wow thats like the perfect place for him to continue the same way without turning " commercial" !

News at the Olivier Theyskens front; a close friend of his confirmed to me that he will be back with a pre-collection for F/W 2007 season... I didn't get it confirmed however if it would be under his own name or under somebody else's...!!
