Rochas to close

How tragic, Olivier in my opinion is a designer within the prime or his career, one of the rare refined, well crafted couture designers i can anticipate from Paris fashion week. Undoubtley, Olivier must seek to recommence designing under his own name; he has a tremendous amount of talent and such should not be invested purely upon secondary positions within other prolific french fashion houses.

thank you so much for sharing those tri  :flower: Do you have pictures of the coats you are getting in? I don't remember them but they sound great.

That is truly sad. :o
How arrogant of P&G, to just shut it down, instead of at least trying to sell it. It seemed Rochas was just starting to really blossom, I just read an article about how it was evolving with trousers, suits etc. I'm surprised that no company has come forward willing to buy it, who knows, maybe that might still happen.

hey meg, that's these are the coats/jackets I was speaking of... I think Hilary Rhoda was wearing the short jacket in the show together with the printed cotton shorts. The length and the drape of the felt is somewhat different from the one with lace overlay which was seen in the show... it's a tiny bit longer and less boxy as it does have a bit more stretch due to the missing lace. other than that, the construction remains exactly the same as with any other Rochas coat, where arms and sleeves are cut out of one piece, without shoulder seams... This shapes a very petite, round shoulder. I added a picture showing a bit how the arms are supposed to fit, I personally find them very beautifully cut...^_^

I found some further pieces in my picture archive that I thought I'd share with you when I was looking for the coats for Meg... I hope it's alright if I post them in here but I thought since this is somewhat becoming the official place to mourn the loss of the house of Rochas... :innocent:

I simply adore this radzimir skirt, especially the naive mohair-yarn stitching on the hemline... very much Olivier's wizardry...

^ one of my fave rochas shapes! i LOVE the slightly lowered waist ..the full skirt doesn't look "fattening" because the hips are still somewhat defined by the long top...
it's out of this world!

wow love the idea of the no shoulder seams, esp. the small rounded shoulders b/c that is what I have. I must check these out. it's weird what you don't appreciate fully until it's gone because you just assume it will always be there.

from fwd...

What will Olivier Theyskens do next? The former Rochas designer has remained elusive ever since Proctor & Gamble announced they were shuttering the famed fashion house. But that cloud of mystery may soon be cleared by Lynn Hirschberg. The editor-at-large at T: The New York Times Style Magazine was in the middle of penning a significant piece on Theyskens, with an emphasis on his revitalization of Rochas, when she—along with much of the fashion community—had the rug pulled out from under her with the news of the brand’s demise. For several weeks Hirschberg had been following Theyskens around Paris for the story, which was said to be in contention for the cover. Following the unfortunate news, Hirschberg was forced to change the focus of her story and immediately made a round of calls, interviewing retailers, editors, and other fashion experts familiar with the current state of fashion as it relates to dollars—and specifically, the difficulty of a collection business and what it takes to keep it going. T: Women’s Fashion is due out August 27.

i can't wait to read this...

:ninja: ok, this has probably been answered somewhere around this -long- thread but, are we still getting a final collection?
