For resort, Roland Mouret showed a curve-hugging collection done in patterns that recalled the paintings of Piet Mondrian. “I often think about geometry and the female form, and the challenge of how they can work together,” said Mouret following the intimate show, his first in London, at the brand’s flagship and headquarters in Mayfair on Thursday.
Mouret worked in delicate nylon mesh for short skirts and a zip-front color-blocked coat, while he added rows of narrow ribbing to a salmon knit dress and punched polka dot patterns into dark coats and pencil skirts. At times, he moved into softer-edged territory, placing an asymmetric tuck or two onto the front of sleeveless tops and jumpsuits, and sending out skirts that were fitted at the back but resembled fluttery silk scarves at the front.
