Rosie exits The View early...

ABC has just announced that Rosie O'Donnell will not be back on "The View."

Brian Frons, President of ABC Daytime, issued the following statement:
"We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to 'The View' and wish her well."

Barbara Walters said "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at "The View." I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

For her part, Rosie said "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

After all the dramz, Rosie is steppin' out early...I'm not surprised but I thought she would pull it together as a professional and show up to work her last 3 weeks. I definitely sided with Elisabeth on the argument even though I usually disagree with everything she says. Rosie has to defend HER opinions...no one else can be expected to do so...

ugh, I agree about rosie having to defend her views. it's a bad move in my opinion.. but also, it seems a bit hypocrite having to pretend that they're friendly with each other again.. I think it's healthier for the show if one of them leaves.. though it'd be best if both did actually.
..I'm not a fan of Rosie by any means.. it has nothing to do with her lifestyle as with her urge to be remotely witty.. but I found the other woman's stupidity to be just astonishing the other day I was watching the clip (thanks orchide, by the way ).. I can see how someone would feel morally devaluated not just by having a discussion or conversation but even sharing a table with someone so ********.

Even though shes gone, she will not have any trouble finding work, if she does choose to work again. I'm pretty sure she is probably set for life at this time financially. After her exchange with Elizabeth earlier this week, I think we all saw her early exit coming.

May 25, 2007 -- ROSIE O'Donnell left "The View" with a bang, not a whimper, following her on-air smackdown with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday.
Yesterday, Rosie's chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly escorted from the building after she was caught drawing moustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck that hang in the "View" studios.
The Post's Adam Buckman reports ABC confirmed in a statement only that "photographs at 'The View's' offices were defaced. Rosie O'Donnell was not in the building. ABC Legal and Human Resources are investigating the matter." Barber is an old friend of O'Donnell who worked with her years ago on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." There were also rumors O'Donnell was so angry after her argument with Hasselbeck that she trashed her dressing room, although ABC denied the tantrum.

I think both of them let their emotions get in the way of an intelligent argument that day. It wasn't even clear what they were actually fighting about by the end of it. Hasselbeck is a stubborn idiot in my opinion but Rosie is too aggressive and emotional at times. I can't blame her for wanting to leave early, it may be unprofessional but it's probably for the best.

Elizabeth is a hard-core republican and very, very anti-gay marriage. She said stupid things like letting gays marry would lead to people wanting to marry their toaster. I was always amazed that Rosie put up with her stupidity as long as she did.

I am very liberal and very anti the war I know it would be exhausting for me to have to argue with someone like Elizabeth day in and day out when she choses to blindy believe every word that comes out of dubya's mouth. I can only imagine it would be even more tiring for Rosie. It gets to the point where you feel you are banging your head against a wall so I can see why she wanted out.

Rosie was a huge ratings draw for that show. I predict a fast decline.

I just saw the video too. I'm not a huge Rosie fan, but Elizabeth who usually looks inane looked absolutely CRAZY.

she was there while she needed to be....

now she needs to move on to bigger and better things.....there is only so much you can say and do when people are not ready to listen.....i think she did a wonderful job.....she has learned from elisabeth, and elisabeth has learned from her....it may not show on tv, but i'm sure in their personal lives they are both better off from having known and worked with eachother....

but it's time to go.....and i'm glad she's recognised that

I think that Rosie digs holes for herself and can't seem to get out of them. I think she has a big heart but that doesn't necessarily make someone smart politically. She never held a decent debate with Elisabeth and always turned to calling names and becoming hostile but if she actually did her research and had been educated maybe she could have argued her thoughts with something to back them up or counter Elisabeths thoughts. There was just no intellect at all coming out of her mouth ever.

I don't care about their political views as I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It seems like they both are the type that always wants the last word...And I find it extremely rude how Rosie asks questions and then speaks over the person that they were directed toward..

At least we know now that Elizabeth loves facts!

Elisabeth's first claim to fame was placing fourth in Survivor: The Australian Outback AKA Survivor 2. Then she was the host for The Look For Less. I thought that she was cute and nice back then... and now I don't care for her as much. I agree with what softgrey said about her.
