Runway review from Style.com:

NEW YORK, February 4, 2006 – Last month, Ruffian's Brian Wolk and Claude Morais won the Fashion Group International's Rising Star Award in an unprecedented tie with newcomer Phillip Lim of 3.1. One suspects the prize might've been theirs alone had they infused their vintage-inspired designs with a more obvious nod to modernity. Judging by a wool jersey dress that opened their National Arts Club show and a ginkgo-print silk chiffon number, both of which featured miniature pleats, they now sense the need to head in that direction. A shirtdress with a banded hem and two thigh-grazing jumpers with oversize pockets also exhibited a pared-down, almost hip attitude. Other looks, especially those cut from a matronly silk Jacquard, seemed out of sync with what's current. The duo's clothes already hang next to Oscar de la Renta's at Saks, but if they want to appeal to a younger client, as Oscar himself, fortyish years their senior, has made strides to do, they will need to keep shedding such anachronisms.

I like the concept but not so much the pieces. I like the black suit a lot and the idea behind the halter dress.

Ooooh, pretty ...

I can already hear the naysayers--"Nothing special ..."

But it's beautiful, isn't it--simple, gorgeously feminine. I love that deeply ruffled collar on the grey blouse. These are clothes that would never take over, though, as opposed to another designer who likes to ruffle who springs immediately to mind :innocent:

This is nice.

^ I'll eat my hat if that crazy Tara Subkhoff had anything to do with these ... I would hope style.com knows what they're talking about? ;)

No denim, no Scarlett, no male body parts hanging from belts, no Easy Spirit shoes ... I say this isn't Tara's work. And furthermore I will say that women in the fashion industry not supporting other women is not her biggest problem :p

ok-well
i am guessing that style.com has got the credits right so i will get rid of that other thread...

For some reason all the new york designer keep giving this old vibe. I'm not diggin it.
