The film has an NC-17 rating, and while Harvey Weinstein has appealed for an R instead, Michelle recently told EW that she’d rather it keep the rating and not be edited.

“I’m happy for it to stay just like it is. Genuinely, I am,” Michelle said. “Movies get to have long lives and it’ll be judged and rejudged in 10 or 20 or 30 years, and I’ll be curious to see how it stands. It seems like such a condemnation. It feels like such a slap on the hand, like you’ve been a bad kid or something

I was hoping for new pics from All Good Things screening, but he wasn't there :(

But Kirsten said something about him:

“He’s up for trying anything and it felt like a team which doesn’t always happen,” she told OK!. “You’re both very there for each other and creatively open to each other’s ideas. It just felt very natural. ”

Ryan speaks for Blue Valentine rating

Ryan and Michelle (Williams) have both issued supporting appeals objecting to the NC-17 rating of Blue Valentine was slapped with by the MPAA.

“You have to question a cinematic culture which preaches artistic expression, and yet would support a decision that is clearly a product of a patriarchy-dominant society, which tries to control how women are depicted on screen. The MPAA is okay supporting scenes that portray women in scenarios of sexual torture and violence for entertainment purposes, but they are trying to force us to look away from a scene that shows a woman in a sexual scenario, which is both complicit and complex. It’s misogynistic in nature to try and control a woman’s sexual presentation of self. I consider this an issue that is bigger than this film.”

The Place Beyond The Pines

Derek Cianfrance and Ryan Gosling will reunite for a film called ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’

I have a film called The Place Beyond the Pines, which is all about fathers and guns, and it has motorcycles and guns in it. One thing I wanted to do with Blue Valentine was to make a really violent film without guns in it. The next one will have guns, so it will be easier. No studio yet. We’re in the middle of financing it right now.

Why Peter Jackson Fired Ryan From ‘Lovely Bones’

During the Hollywood Reporter round table interview Ryan discussed why he didn’t get the part of Peter Jackson in ‘The Lovely Bones‘.

In The Hollywood Reporter’s annual actors roundtable discussion, the “Blue Valentine” star says Jackson disapproved of the 60 pounds he’d put on from “melting Haagen Dazs and drinking it.”

Ryan Gosling spoke candidly with The Hollywood Reporter about his 60 pound weight gain for Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones, the film the director fired him from just days before production began.

“I was melting Haagen Dazs and drinking it when I was thirsty,” Gosling told us during our annual awards season roundtable discussion.

Gosling explained that his much-ballyhooed weight gain was all a part of how he saw the character of Jack Salmon, the role ultimately filled by Mark Wahlberg.

“We had a different idea of how the character should look,” Gosling said. “I really believed he should be 210 pounds.”
Jackson apparently disagreed, but the Oscar-nominated actor doesn’t hold a grudge.

“We didn’t talk very much during the preproduction process, which was the problem,” he said. “It was a huge movie, and there’s so many things to deal with, and he couldn’t deal with the actors individually. I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong.”
