Aww, I was hoping Angela would get the Stella McCartney campaign. But at least it's less Kate! I still need a couple seasons to recover from last season's overload. :innnocent:

I hope Stam & Tanya save the Lanvin campaign. I still miss last season's brilliance there though.

WARD DECLARED

GEMMA WARD has apparently forgiven John Galliano for making her repeatedly throw herself backwards into a grey paper backdrop for his spring/summer 2007 Dior ad campaign. "I did get a Christmas card from her, so she's alright," he joked to WWD. "[She] was body-slamming the whole day." Photographer Craig McDean shot the ads for the first time – bringing to an end a long-term collaboration with Nick Knight but, says Galliano, McDean is "from the school of Nick Knight, as many of them are". The ads are due to appear in the March issues of magazines and they are, adds the designer, "where Dior should be today". (January 30 2007, AM)

DREW SEALS THE DEAL IN A LIFT

GILES DEACON has revealed the unlikely story of how Drew Barrymore came to be the face of his new "Gold Collection" for New Look. "I'd talked to a few colleagues about Drew being a great choice and how much we'd like to feature her," he said. "Then my friend Katie Grand happened to bump into her in the lift of a hotel. She told her about our idea to have her as the face of the advertising campaign, and Drew agreed to do the shots." Deacon, who recently won British Designer of the Year, explained he wanted someone who appealed to young women, and was excited to be using an actress instead of a model for the campaign. The upcoming spring/summer capsule collection will feature 35 key pieces in signature prints and bold colours, marking yet another top designer turning his hand to the high street. Last year, customers fought over both the Viktor & Rolf collection for H&M and Roland Mouret's designs for Gap - and Deacon's collection is sure to be just as popular. (February 1 2007, AM)
