S/S 2007 Ad Campaigns (please read post #1 before posting)

If Coco manages to keep her mouth shut for the Balenciaga campaign, I shall buy a hat and eat it. Fortunately it's not likely to happen!

It's like the Sasha thing....it will hit you one day :)

Maybe.. sasha scared me at first when i saw her on Chloe's runway her first season.. but she was always beautiful in eds and ads right from the get go.

Who knows.. maybe 2 seasons later I will be singing Coco's praises.. :innocent:

Beautiful Heather avatar BTW jssy

I apprechiate Coco's appeal now more so than i ever did. You cannot deny she has an extremley individual look foreign to the convientional blonde rail thin models we see parading down the runway. Edgy is in along with fashion's new wave and i think Coco is a poster girl for the progression in the perception of beauty, its now translated into unusual characteristics and features, typical beauty has become ironically inferior and boring. Look at Gemma Ward, Lily Cole, Agnyess Deyn, even Bette Franke. Ugly or edgy and new?

Not deliberately trying to be contrary, but I don't find Coco particularly edgy at all, I just find her rather boring the majority of the time, most of this is down to her only seeming to possess one facial expression.

The so called 'edgy' look has become so 'in' that it isn't even 'edgy' anymore, it has become the norm. Classic beauty seems to be more unconventional these days (unfortunately) It would be nice to see some of the more classicly beautiful models scoring campaigns as opposed to the latest girl with a weird look, thats my feeling personally.

UGH. I completely agree. Where are Doutzen, Anja, Valentina, Hilary, Hana, and Inguna when you need them?

^ Really? I always though of Coco being the knock off of Hilary. Both are loved by Balenciaga though.

I was terrified by Coco at first, but then one day I just really fell for her. I wouldn't say that's edgy, but there's something about her energy that's captured in print and is really interesting to look at. She seems like such a sweet girl, too, like she's genuinely excited to be doing what she's doing. And that shows in her work, too.

On an unrelated note, I'm not expecting much from Valentino. Last season's campaign with Gemma wasn't too great, and I don't think Iselin will be much better. I, personally, don't find her versatile at all. I think she could suit Balenciaga easily, but she just doesn't have any of the elegance required for Valentino. Not to knock the girl, I do really like her! Just don't think she's compatible with this particular brand. I would've much preferred Anja Rubik or Caroline Trentini, maybe Emina or Natasha!

And really, what's up with M&M doing everything? I'm afraid we're going to open our magazines and see the same shots over and over and over.

sasha's appeal hasn't hit me yet either...
as has coco's...i don't think it ever will...
i'm disappointed at balenciaga's choice of her again...
i would have actually prefered irina...her look makes more sense considering the theme of the collection...

Skin for Gianfranco Ferre

While Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts starred in his last Spring 2006 ad campaign, Gianfranco Ferré has turned darker and moodier for Spring 2007, tapping indie rocker Skin to star in the Mario Testino-lensed images. “In choosing Skin—her body, the expressiveness of her eyes, her face most of all—I consciously put a special accent on the free, natural, easy and even aggressive spirit I sought to award my woman for next spring/summer,” said Ferré, who themed the upcoming campaign “glam energy.” “Her unique voice, among the most impressive in the rock music scene, complements her intense stage presence, which is full of passion and emotion.” The British singer, born Deborah Anne Dyer, was the lead singer for Skunk Anansie before the band split in 2001. Skin is photographed alongside male model Patrick Petitjean in a series of clean, black-and-white images that are meant to play off glances, close encounters, mutual understandings, and feminine/masculine cross references.

Iselin for Balenciaga - good
Iselin for Valentino - not so good
Coco for anything - BAD

I'm generally happy with the latest campaign news, though. Too little for my faves, but at least it's MODELS. I'm still trying to grasp the fact that Lohan for Miu Miu actually seems to be happening.

it is not iselin and coco for balenciaga. it is just coco.:D Iselin was supposed to do it but they canceled her i herd.:innocent:
