It’s definitely for a specific Japanese client (the ones that fawn over Engineered Garments and selvage denim spun on the original Levi’s looms and all go for that hobo pear-shaped silhouette even if they don't actually possess a pear-shaped body and have money…) And I'’m sure everything is of a premium quality— like Junya and a lot of Japanese denimwear brands. Just that this is everything I loathe: Patchwork, ironic I-know-it’s-tacky-prints-but-it’s-high-fashion, shapeless construction, peasant silhouettes and a pubescent aesthetic that infantilizes the wearer, is present in this collection. And the stupid footwear that resembles SpongeBob’s loafers. Maybe if I were 13yo, I’d dig the madras and denim/camo patchwork bombers. Maybe.
