Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2013

its hard to focus on clothes. generally i dont like this, no Saint Laurent on it, what a crap

It would be nice to see the designs in a straightforward manner since this is only Pre-Fall, but I also think it's quite charming he's made a statement with this showing. It's not much, but at least he's consistent with the way he wants to present the SL brand. I admire that about him.

As for the actual designs, high street gets thrown around a lot here, but until you've seen the actual garment up close and personal and you're able to feel the materials and examine the construction, the fit, the small details that define craftsmanship, I don't think that it's fair to call out Hedi's designs-- or any other designer's less than original collection, "high street-quality". Sure, Zara may produce a decent-looking shoe, but the leather-- if it's even leather at all, won't be the same quality as a designer pair. On the flipside, just because it's designer, doesn't always make it top quality. But with Hedi, I was never let down with his prior work for Dior Homme and YSL Men; there's always an utter surety and a crispness to his design that I always appreciate. And more importantly-- to me anyways, his designs never scream "fashion!", which I'm sure some find boring and passe, but I appreciate that about him: Who knows, the lace he uses may be Swiss? Maybe not, but until there are clearer shots of what's he's got to offer, I'm reserving judgement.

I love Allison, but I'd find it just as insipid.

The more I look at it, the more high street I see -- that combination of classic preppy [toggle and peat coats] combined with the rocker elements -- c'mon man.

Or better clothes...
i actually dont have an issue with the clothes...people keep saying its zara rip offs, etc...but dont stores like topshop and zara just replicate a lot of designer stuff to bring it down to street level?

i see the ysl suits from decades back in these pieces....the smoking jacket-thin silouette, ysl the man. i dont love every piece, but im terribly intrigued where he'll take the brand. i love rocker chic, and to have a brand oozing that each season and not jumping on stripes and chiffon to stay on trend goes to show that perhaps beyond his ego/attitude that there are high quality, chic staples that are season-less and investment pieces....and i feel like soo many design houses have lost that these days thanks to the lady gaga shock factor of design that seems to be garnering the attention of editorial lenses these days. im kinda diggin' the F U attitude and the all black and white ads.

This is not good, not true to YSL, we see no colors, only B&W clothes, and they look very mainstream and vulgar, this looks like a Zara lookbook, and this girl for this brand..............
Stefano should never left YSL he was very good, and made some great collections and stunning accessories, now Hedi....if this is true to YSL I don't know what YSL is anymore!

It's a shame that a brand soo sensual, vibrant, parisian, and with an exotic spice to it...turns out like this, bland and lifeless, it lost their charm!

That's exactly what I was going to post!

It's not even Topshop. Even Topshop and H&M are edgier than this.

I have come to grips with the Hedi's plan to change the brand but I can't get into his design aesthetic. I don't care how cool the clothes looks or how sexy the lengths of his dresses are, I still think this looks incredibly cheap.

You cannot tell me this doesn't look like a designer TARGET collection.
