It feel oddly "Lagerfeld Chloe meet The Substance" with the filmy lingerie dresses and sexy athleisure. I do love AV's YSL, but I really do wonder how long they can keep going like this. The brand has been on a decline since the last quarter of 2023. I feel that the mess at GG and the uncertainty of BV and McQ are buying him A LOT of time. The worst thing about it all is that I'm nearly certain that his successor will be a flop.

I overall am okay with his YSL, his shoes and accessories are always good.

But yes it’s just more of the same/similar, and it’s a lot of it, like 65 looks for a Resort? SS26 was only 50. It makes sense though, you can tell he’s an (indie) film guy, the color and casting are on point, and I think he’s very into the visual worldbuilding . Can’t credit him for the photography, but it is shot beautifully.

The lacy/frilly rompers(?) are ugly tho. That garment just always feels p*rnographic in a tryhard tumblr lolita way.

I just like the 3 trousers suits, they are good and very fresh…
But honestly all the AV tenure is more at an YSL Rive Gauche level, without the working women, than real YSL prêt à porter. And we don’t talk about couture

We are are literally living the 70s Redux right now ( Inflation/Stagflation, student protests, political upheavals ,cultural shifts) this mofo be putting out B grade outfits for Alexis Carrington on Dynasty circa 1985 which she would even reject. YSL needs a new designer who is not living of the bread crumbs of Hedi Slimane.

His shows are spectacular and all and he does have a vision, but I am just not sure that vision is as inspiring and aspirational as it used to be, despite these rankings of brands putting it in the top. His 10 year anniversary is coming up next year, right ? Maybe he will leave then. I don't think he has much else to say or a new way of saying it.

His shows are amazing, but i do think its time to move on. He would do wonders for versace.
