Im a double 0 or smaller...so although i love sample sales, it is hard for me to find stuff i like and that fits...My firend who i usually go with is size 6 and she usually finds more stuff but its different with each sample sale..The sale i mentioned above for today SUCKED btw...but they did have a lot of small sizes..just not good stuff and what i liked was still reg price! 
hey I'm new here and I was wondering, are sample sales just offered in particular cities like New York or can they be anywhere> not necessarily just for couture but even for some better brands like triple 5 or seven or anything in that sort of category?

How do you people find out about sample sales in general?? 
I am in NYC and usually find out about sample sales from the websites.

Try and find a friend in the Fashion industry and they may get emails, etc.
Be warned that anything advertised here or the other websites will be a mob scene. Parsons School of Design holds many of these sample sales as well as some of the designers own office in the Garment District. I've been to sales for D&G, Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, Theory, Helmut Lang, Prada, To Boot and others. Very hit or miss.
I remember going to a DKNY sample sale in Spring 03 that an employee from LVMH invited me to and they had sweaters for $10 and coats for $40. I'm not a big DKNY but they had stuff from the upcoming Fall 03 season there. I got a coat that ended up selling in the stores for $400. No tags and stuff like that, but who cares? The sale was open to the public but unadvertised on the major websites( the best ones usually aren't).
Sample sales have kinda gone by the wayside, most sales now are stock sales. True sample sales would be items from the runway or things that never made it into production (hence the name sample) but designers/stores have found it as a profitable way to offload merchandise with little or no overhead. The good thing about this is that a wider variety of sizes is available. Some women will line up hours beforehand because if you come late, nothing good is left.

love sample sales. the internship i'm at now... before all of the handbags are shipped out to the sample sales, i get to pick out whatever the hell i want for free. and it's great because most of the samples are pretty stylish and i love them (but they dont get picked up by buyers for manufacturing, so they are only one of a kind)... Today i got a white hobo with a black circle weave design on it.. it's very cool looking.. much better than my lame description.. soo yea...

Barneys every year has their sale at an airplane hanger. However it is vicious. People strip right in front of you, and there is a general essence of chaos.
