Seattle shopping

passed by the old abercrombie in the u-village yesterday. looks like the h&m there is going to be 2 stories high.

We may lack shopping here in Seattle, but I like to think that this city is not completely devoid of fashion. My friends, family, and I order alot from stores in NY and online, and between that, Barneys, Mario's, Nordstrom... and all the cute little boutiques popping up everywhere.... I think we do pretty well... thank you very much
Mario's sucks! Their Rick Owens selection is only his Dark Shadow denim and maybe two jackets. They list Hermes on their site, but it's only Hermes watches...so unimpressed with them! I wanted to find some cool Helmut-y like sheer tanks to layer and couldnt find anything.

H&M opens July 25th at South Center; U Village and downtown (Pike) locations open early September I believe.

I'm hoping that a lot of people around here won't "get" it (not that there's so much to get), thus leaving the more interesting pieces for me! I haven't been to an H&M in about three years though. And a lot of people are comparing it to Forever 21, but I hope not, since I can't stand that store. We shall see.

I still want to hit up Betty Blue.

Can anyone recommend some nice vintage/thrift stores in Seattle? I'm mainly looking for dresses and skirts for a good deal. Thanks in advance!

Have you been to Value-Village [several locations]... but the one on Cap Hill at 1525 11th Ave is the one I go to... you can sometimes find amazing things there... they can be pricey... but it depends.

Goodwill in the ID & Goodwill on 8th St in Ballard are both good. I've heard the one in Lynnwood is fantastic... but I've never been.

You'll find stores like Crossroads & Buffalo Exchange are overpriced.

Yard sales are also excellent & usually a very good deal... you can bargain  I've found some amazing things that way.

:flower:

^ I've visited Value Village, but none in Seattle. I'll have to check them out - I've found some nice things at other locations. ^_^

The Goodwill in Lynnwood is great! I used to live in the city and would check out the store often. They have tons of clothes, especially heavy coats and dresses.

Thank you for your suggestions! I love yard sales, too, but lately I haven't seen any in my area.

I'm planning on going to the newly opened South Center H&M sometime this weekend, probably tomorrow because I can't wait any longer! Has anyone checked it out yet? I'm hoping it won't be too crazy in the store with mad people and lines.

i haven't gone cause i'm moving this weekend. but i'm sure it will be crowded. a story in the paper said that people started forming lines at 1 am to get in. i think i read something about 6000 people? egads!

How ridiculous! I've never cared for Southcenter. Too out of the way, unless you're going to or leaving from the airport, and even then, nothing there interests me. I like Bell Square.

^ southcenter has changed a lot now. the street past the mall has turned into a long strip mall.

there's a nordstrom rack there too. seems like it's gonna become a shopping destination for cheap clothes.

I've never cared for Southcenter.

The problem with Southcenter is the location, which, as you pointed out, is really only accessible when heading towards (or leaving) Sea-Tac, both times when most people don't feel like shopping (and if they do, there's always good old Hudson News in the airport :p).

That being said, I'd rather go to Southcenter any day than the Everett Mall, but that's a different subject. :ninja:

the h&m at southcenter was reeeeeeeeally dissappointing. it looked like an express or something. the new f21, however, is wonderful! i still prefer bell square as well though. and i will prefer it even more when neimans opens next fall. it will be nice to have a store around with a large selection of everything i like. :)

The Neiman's is opening Spring '09 I thought? It will be exciting to see what boutiques they place at The Bravern. Other than the obvious (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc)

I thought I heard it got pushed back to Fall? It wouldn't surprise me, considering how construction projects are always running behind. The sooner it opens, the better though!

You're correct, littlemissmarc, about the opening date of the Shops at The Bravern. Just been on www.thebravern.com and it says Fall 2009. New stores that have been confirmed to be there are Louis Vuitton (this was a given), Jimmy Choo (blah) and Bottega Veneta. So another year...:(

Has anybody been to the DSW shoe store in the Northgate Mall? It's amazing I just went there last weekend to see what it was like since my cousin just got a job there, I was just in shoe heaven!
