Sequin Pieces

I love the way Marc Jacobs styled it, with many contrasting layers and textures. I hate the tacky high street interpretation and the hoardes of girls I see at clubs with fake tanned legs and sequin mini dresses and stilettos. I've yet to see a piece of sequinned clothing I like and could afford, I don't think this 'trend' is really me anyway.

i've been a fan of sequins for a while now and have definitely been finding ways to work them into my everyday wardrobe rather than just reserving them for special occassions/eveningwear..

i have a great tori burch tank that is green with a sort of pattern on it that is covered in clear sequins for a bit of shine, and i've managed to wear it a lot this summer by pairing it with more casual pieces..
with wide legged navy blue pants and flat gold sandals
with jeans, a white t-shirt underneath, and flats at work..
i'm sure as it gets colder i will continue to wear it and work with more layers etc..

like softie mentioned on the previous page, i've found that it's all about the textures you mix together..
i bought a dress at mango on sale with some sequins on it--will try to remember to post pics when i take some--and i already think i can plan plenty of ways to wear it...
with a long sleeved blk shirt underneath and opaque tights...
maybe with a nice soft sweater over it so the sequins on the skirt part show and also peak out of the top...

the sequins just add a fun dimension to the look and as long as you carry the whole thing off with confidence, and nonchalance (who cares if it's noon and i'm in sequins--that's totally normal!) the look will definitely work for you and you can have fun with it :p

^^ I think that a sequinned mini-dress in colors like light blue, silver and gold would work during the day too. :flower:

I love sequinned things in black/bright/metallic colors. I think brown/neutral colored sequined things are pretty boring.

I like sequins when they appear as an unexpected element in a daytime outfit. Lucky magazine styles it that way pretty often. Like a loose sequin tank under a suit, or a sequin scarf with a bulky winter sweater. I agree that the mixture of textures makes it interesting.

I like the idea of sequin dresses, but I'm not sure that I could ever pull them off in real life. I think I would feel like I'd been bedazzled.

i love sequins if they look high quality and the piece is a really simple flattering cut, i want one of my fall/winter looks to be kind of mod tuxedo and i think a sequined black or white piece is in order, maybe a sequin tie or vest, if i could find a really sweet sequin mini or pants i would be all about it

I stopped by topshop today and i found these:

what do you all think of them? i was thinking about buying one, but i'm still not sure.. i'm afraid to look like a clown.

^^ i think it's be more comfortable and more interesting if the sequins were interspersed in a chunky knit or something... this one looks like it would pinch around the forehead because of the sequins, no?

i do love the idea of a shiny, beaded hat though! you've got me thinking...

I think sequins are a wonderful thing. I love them but they have to be done right. They can really look cheap if done incorrectly.

I used to hate sequins....thought it looked tacky and so difficult to clean and keep the sequins from falling off...but the more I look at it in the clothing store where I work at...it's starting to grow on me...I really like the sequined version of the mini dress and mini skirt.

I have a black sequinned beret- got it today. I love it, its totally chic! X And not clown like whatsoever

I bought a silver/grey sequin beanie from New Look that is of the same style recently, and within a few days (or a few hours more truthfully! ) it became my most prized possession. It looks fabulous on, plus on a rainy day, it makes a sad head happy  I say that's killing two birds with one stone!

i only like sequins when its teamed with something completely opposite from it, like a sheer cream blouse with a sequin skirt, i don't know, sortof balancing out the harsh with something light and airy?

anyway i generally dislike sequins as anything sequinned in my price range is tacky and the sequins aren't sewed on individually so if one falls off, they all eventually do.

I have a sequin beret, similar to that one in black from urban. Sequins are fabulous.
Whether its a sequin dress, beret, tank top, shoes. I find them to be so attractive.
Just as long as they are wore as separate pieces and not mixed together (ex. Sequin Beret and a dress would look extremely bad :( )
