Serpent Jewelry

Serpent jewelry makes me think too readily of Rachel Zoe (who has established the trend as a trademark of hers, along with ardent tanning and Halston), but I suppose it still holds an ounce of potential for me. It could easily have almost-gothic connotations, except it's mostly rendered in gold and splattered with jewels, at least from the pictures I've seen. I'd probably like serpent jewelry more in antiqued silver or even pewter...

I like this look, I was about to buy a serpent bracelet the other day but then I saw a girl wearing the same one I was going to buy up high on her arm like an upper arm cuff and it put me off of it...it was only plain though

^Wandie that is so cool!

I love serpent jewelry. The Cavalli pieces especially call out to me. Any kind of animal inspired jewelry is very beautiful but the serpent pieces are especially nice as they natural shape of the animal translates so well into jewelry and the way the coils wrap around the body is very sexy. There is something quite Egyptian princess about the entire look.

Mexican movie star Maria Felix had Cartier make this snake for her in 1968. It's featured in the exhibit "Treasures of the Titans: 1950-Present" by the National Jewelry Insitute.

Cartier now even has a colection inspired on the jewelry they made for her (mostly reptiles) called La Doña de Cartier

wow! She really lays it on heavily! Is that picture from an editorial or publicity or does she actually wear that many large accessories? Do you know where it's from? I've never heard of her. Thanks.:flower:

Here's another picture of her from that same site, with big snake earrings on. I like her style in a kind of 70's way. Big hat, Big cigarillo, Big gold serpent jewelry. She seems like a fierce kinda lady. The story on that site about the stuff that Cartier made for her is interesting too.

of course snakes are a boucheron trademark...

I don't really like the earrings she was wearing

but I love the serpenttrend itself

I love this trend...It is so wearable as long as it is not too cheapy or laid on too heavily.

So gorgeous! Way better than the other animal inspired jewelery like owls, birds, etc....

Does anybody know if that's the bracelet she was wearing in the movie? Caught site of it on her wrist half way through and I kept waiting to see if it would show up again, it's gorgeous. Anyone know, too, who made it?

I don't know exactly, but I've seen it on her wrist in candids from different events/outfits too. I think Kenneth jay Lane makes something similar yea?

Also, I was just looking at the Allure mag with Katherine Heigl (sp?) on the cover and they had a full page feature on this trend. A lot of makers and designs i hadn't seen before were shown. I didn't buy it but if anyone scans it that would be awesome.;) :flower:

I like alot of it, but Im not sure its something I would wear.
