Trompe l'oeil...

I'm not sure myself, I think it depends on what the detail is made out of, like, those printed Moschino pieces I wouldn't think are very hard to make, but then something like the Schiaparelli sweater, or the last Marc Jacobs dress, which are both knit, I would assume to be a bit more difficult to do.

adorefaith, there are all possible ways at achieve the tompe l'oeil effect, from print and applique to embroidery and plain stitching, Sciaparelli was the goddess of this technique
btw, you are welcome, always my pleasure ;)

one of the season's strongest new(ish) trends
thanks for all the photos jess :flower:

never ever liked this much :ninja:
although tht moschino skirt is cute . . . !

but it just conjures up images
of those hideous shirts w/trompe l'oeil of bowties & waistcoats
tht some boys think are hilarious to wear entirely seriously to proms etc.

:ninja: i've been scarred for life !

The prada trompe loeil are quite interesting... but dior.... gosh.....

I love the Margiela trompe l'oeil tees...the scarf one looks cool, but my absolute favorite is the camera tee, which seems especially relevant in today's paparazzi-crazy world.

That last Martin Margiela that Alex N showed us is so gorgeous....... wow.......

How would I go about finding out how to get my hands on that? I've looked at his collection on AlohaRag and I can't find the photos you've shown. Were are they?

:D yes, agreed.. excuses for posting the Dior looks myself but since it was tompe l'oeil i could pretend it wasnt ..^_^

personally i've never worn this type of styles..
not sure its something i'd enjoy wearing to be honest :ninja:
but personal taste apart, it IS a big trend for ss06

I wouldnt say the last pics are trompe l'oeil, or maybe the legs..but the rest..?

the Moschino outfits are great..old Roberta de Camerino style.. I went to her shop to see what they are up to..really ugly stuff...

The printed necklaces are everywhere at the moment, also printed on jeans..

thx for the explanation lena...:flower:
and to everyone for the pictures.... !

you guys are so helpful...

i'm with you chanel....i dont know if i like this....:ninja:
i mean it sort of seems like an interesting novelty.....a little bit fun and playful.....but i dont think i could ever wear it....

it almost looks to me like it mocks fashion design itself....

the williamson dress is cute though....

^^ but where is the trompe l'oeil in the last posts? Is it some fake printed lace?..

I LOVE trompe l'oeil....unfortunately I never see any of it in the shops.

i hate trompe l'oeil. as chanel said in the previous
post, these drawings are conjuring up images. i'd rather see the real thing thank you very much.
but moschino has a cute dress with this trompe l'oeil bow this season.
