i_<3_chanel ....if the jacket is lined, it definitely would not be a good idea to just pull it in, you'd have to take it apart and re-do it. But if you don't have any experience in patternmaking & sewing, it could end up a disaster.

If it's not lined, you could try taking it in on the side seams through to the sleeves...and if there's any panels, you should take it in from there too....it depends on the type of jacket also,,,,im picturing a tailored jacket....so it would be harder to alter....

Otherwise,,,,your best option would be to take it to a dressmaker to alter it for you....

sorry i forgot to add, take it in from the armhole and shoulder seams aswell....

i've started taking it in from the side seams, panels & armholes!
we'll see how it goes. ;]
thanks for the advice!

Geek-Chic that dress is really lovely!

thanks gius :D i'll take that as a compliment ;).

i drew up the idea for the new bag, the Big Bruiser, last night. i have to make a pattern tonight.

I want to make cut-outs from felt to sew onto t-shirts... can I do this by hand or is it better to use a machine?

Sew the felt cutouts by had. Even though it is slower, I think it's easier to control the string at the curves.

I'm doing textiles next year... I love sewing :) I've never really made my own garment though... just a few trinkets and simple things like cushions and stuff.

im working on a denim bag right now. im obsessed with denim at the moment....

wow this is a great thread.

here is a picture of a dress i started last night and the croquis.

^the draping is very very nice

rightguard, you should be able to. if not, you can probably find a heavy woven version.

rightguard, you should be able to find it in specialty fabric shops....or your other option is to buy a cheap knitted jumper and cut it up and use it, since you only need it for a collar....

Yeah songbird thats what I was thinking about doing, would I ask for heavy knit fabric and bring a picture ?)
