hey randompatterns, welcome! :)

for a beginner, i would suggest making your own - it would be exactly your size, and all you need is a tshirt and some duct tape! here is a link with the scoop:

http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/t00002_p2.asp

several of my friends have done this (i haven't yet) and they swear by it, especially if you don't have the money for a dress form (they can be expensive!!)

good luck and i can't wait to see your creations!

^ Is there nothing you can't do with duct tape?!

Such a great idea!

francesca, that's the most valuable idea ever....*goes to the "what have you learned at tfs today" thread*

i mean....:ninja: :flower:

my goodness. it's crazy what you can do with duct tape (has anyone heard of those duct tape prom dresses.? O_o) anyways. i'm not sure what to do. i really want to make my own clothes, but i dont' tknow how to transfer my designs into clothing.. the whole pattern business. how'd everyone get started?

I've been working on this high waisted pencil skirt for my university project. It's for a nostalgia project so i decided to decorate it with robots because they remind me of transformers and power rangers from my childhood (the 90's).

It will have braces attachable by buttons, and the design of robots on it and on the braces. i also plan to stencil robots onto the lining aswell.

edit: i drafted the pattern myself and im so proud it worked!

the skirt is so hard to move about in because its so fitted.

i'll post the finished skirt when its done (well when i get around to sewing it):innocent:

Wow the robot idea is so great and i love the dress as well .. go go power rangers lol couldnt help but throw that in .. and as for transformers .. i was playing them the other day with my little cousin and telling him how the old ones were better etc. lol i suddenly felt extreamlly old :(

I just adjusted some dressy slacks that I never wear into some shorts for the summer. Their pinstriped and they look great. I love my sewing machine.

i'm not sure this is the right thread for this but can anyone help me with info on sewing machines??? I'm sick to death of the old needle and thread, way too many blisters and too much of my time....thanx

Can anybody here define to me what draping is? I think I have a general idea, but I'm not totally sure.

Dezhare- I posted on another thread about patternreview.com that has reviews on different sewing machines etc. I highly recommend the site for anyone into sewing.

I'm thinking of making some gloves. But I have never done any sewing before :ninja: But I really want to make gloves!

I'm sewing a leopard print (hey thanks teacher for finding those 80s leftovers!) mini dress at school. I made the patterns from my other dress.
