Hi everyone! My name is Daniel and I'm sick of bad basics. Let me explain, I ordered some shirts from AA (American Appearl) and the quality was awfull not to mention it irritated my skin very much! I just need to find some nice basic clothes with quality materials. Basically here is what I need to buy for my wardrobe:

* Dark jeans, straight leg
* Tshirts in various colors (not slim and not too loose fit, just perfect)
* Workout shoes and outfit
* Casual shoes

Any help is very appreciated! :ninja:

go to the gap.

for you're gym stuff...go to like...sports authority...or just wear old tshirts

everything i wish in my life is to find a store that carries plain cotton sweaters, tshirts, even pants, in all colors, that have not been altered by fashion nature at all.
but im hopeless. :(

i think Zara's good for basics.
Some H&M stuff as well.
Club Monaco too - though i never go.
For me - here in Toronto i go to Smart Set for basics and funk it up with Zara/H&M/RW&Co.
Can't stand Gap.

What was so bad about AA?? I order everything from them...they have lasted years for me..H&M is good but dont expect them to last more than a few washings..

:ninja: I get this huge rash when I wear the baby rib shirt, not to mention they fit so tight I can see through the fabric.

levis, calvin klien jeans, and t-shirts by hanes (with lycra) or gap shirts or target t-shirt

casual shoes: keds!!!! converse!!!! keds! 9sorry, they're just so damn comfy and they come in so many diferent styles. workout stuff~ dancers apparel, always super comfy!

Although, zara can have clothes with such a short lifespan. Gap?? okok some people feel like they can buy and wear everything from there but for some basics such as t-shirts etc.:ninja:

for basic t-shirts, you can look online and find some nice pima cotton t-shirts...i know calvin klein does pima basic t-shirts...and pima is soooo comfortable!!

shoes is something you can't really skimp on...get a nice pair of sneakers if you're gonna be walking a lot...like if you're in college or live in the city or wot not...whatever you get just make sure they're comfortable coz that's kind of key with shoes IMO

I wish for that too..
I'm DYING to purchase a PLAIN solid-colored hoodie but no store carries one that doesn't have a huge logo or some kind of pattern plastered in the front of it :( I found some nice plain t-shirts in various colors at H&M. I looked in the men's section because I like mens fit more than womens fit. ::shrug:: it may not be the BEST of quality, but it's very comfortable and it looks clean/simple/nice...plus it's only $6. Cant beat that.

I find a lot of basics in Benetton and Sisley. The colour choice is amazing and the quality of the cotton cotton/lycra or wool wool/cashmere is very very good.

Petit Bateau has the best T-shirts;not at all expensive;less than 20 euros. Best value out there for sure.

For vests etc Velvet is very good.

I also like French Connection for basic tees and vests.And agree with Benetton for cotton tees...I find their wool scratchy. This season I have not been attracted by any of their tees though.

Sometimes it is worth paying a bit more and getting Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten tees and tanks...I have some going in for their 3rd season and looking as new.

I don't really wear jeans,and only wear khaki's etc when backpacking :lol: . I get those from French Connection too.

I really don't like Zara and H&M basics...horrible synthetic material and blink-and-you-miss-it lifespan!

I agree that if you can make it to a GAP store (I can't :cry: ) they have some great basics too.

Do you have an Esprit store where you are? (I don't know if it's an Australian chain only...) I just bought a whole bunch of basics from there today after comparing all other options...their clothes are good quality and a great fit! Their men's gear is really nice!

I was just about to disagree about AA shirts, since I have just bought a lot of tees from them and they fit perfectly on me. But now that I hear you got a rash... that just might explain my mysterious rash :shock: (and I realize I just wore an AA shirt for the first time a couple days back). I hope it's not from the shirts, I spent $100+ on the plain tees!!!
