Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

"ny tailor shop" on kenmare near lafayette is great. they once relined a vintage coat for me so wonderfully and are very affordable. nice dominican guys. :flower:
yeah.
i have been thinking about that....

i have to find a better tailor though because the last time i did that it was not good...
the guy just didn't get what i was going for and didn't do it right at all...
i thought it would be so easy...not so much...:ermm:...

thanks for the suggestion !..
...

*if anyone can recommend a tailor in NYC downtown...:flower:

...at BS and Lucky...

thanks emma...
what i find though is tailors that do great 'tailoring'...often can't get their heads around the idea of jeans...

but that is close by enough that i can go over and have a fitting at least...
we'll see if they get it...
thanks so much!..
:flower:

a man in a skirt is along the same lines as a guy who can wear clogs...some do and should (its so  sexy when it works)

i DO love a man in a skirt..i admit that...

but in a MAN's skirt...not a woman's skirt...
not all things are androgynous....
some things are decidedly leaning one way or the other...
and i def think this leans femme...
doesn't turn me on...

^_^...

I'm of the same opinion (androginy: can look good, appropriating feminity: crossdressing, falls outside the realm of fashion and usually blah). However I've never liked the men in skirts look. Maybe Gaultier can pull it off.

Lanvin started playing with feminine (A) shape for coats and I do believe this one is subtle enough to be incorporated into some looks, interestingly enough I'm trying to talk one of my friends out of buying this coat as it falls in the realm of a very louche kind of luxury that is neither formal nor casual and only fits into very specific wardrobes. I could consider getting it as I do a lot of formal, luxurious jackets with decidedly casual/streetwear pieces but I'm not even sure.

Will any of you ladies be getting this:

They're the shoe equivalent of a punch in the gut, I'd probably offer marriage to a lady cool enough to pull them off.

As tempting a challenge as that is.....:woot:

I'm going to go with "hell, no". :glare:

I can't even imagine how much they must cost anyway... but they would be pretty spectacular with something dead simple, like this dark Margiela dress that I have been eying....:ninja:

aha...i bet i know the dress...^_^...i tried to get helena to buy it...

fuuma

maybe it's the hideous floral carpet in the background of that pic......
but i find very little appealing about those shoes...

:ninja:

the front panel is good...if only the straps were solid and black...
then i might consider it...
:D

would you still make the same offer then?...:innocent:...

Really, soft? :woot:

I can't find the exact one but it's similar to this from Pollyanna...more capey in the back though, I think.

The carpet is absolutely horrible...

I'm down with changes as long as the scale-like pattern is still there as it reminds me of a cartoon I watched a long time ago (Saint Seiya/"les chevaliers du zodiaque" in french). The mind works in mysterious ways, I wonder if this is where Ghesquière got the inspiration, he probably watched the show and it was antiquity/mythology themed. + if he's gay he probably had a crush on one of the male characters, all the people into boys did.

...

right...it's the scale pattern that got me too!...^_^..

I saw the most divine pair of trousers ever yesterday :crush: Dark navy wool, with gold button - hint of the sailor (can't think of a better word ), slightly wide legged. I wish I'd brought them now though, I can't see them on the store's website so I'm worried they might have been an end of line of something

I need something like this

isn't that MM the one I tried on, well, attempted too, with the back that was so special? it would be amazing on a tall thin woman with good shoulders, too bad i didn't fit in that box.

Why didn't it work for you, lucky? I was imagining that we have rather similar body types, actually...

we should establish that it is def the same dress...^_^...
is it jersey and does it have a sort of circle back?

Here's a pic of the back. I guess it is kind of circular...really an extension of the furniture-inspired stuff he did last winter. I got a cushion cover top from that collection. The dress seems a lot easier to wear though. :P
