Actress Sienna Miller has confirmed she will play the role of Maid Marion in a film remake of Robin Hood.
The 26-year-old will star alongside Russell Crowe, who is expected to play the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Oscar-winning writer Brian Helgeland and director Sir Ridley Scott have also signed up for the project.
Speaking to the BBC's Colin Paterson, Miller said: "It's happening. I just found out. It's the most exciting news in the world."
She added: "It's ridiculous. But there's this looming actor's strike, so it's not 100% sure that it's going to be made, but it's looking pretty certain."
Miller, who is currently promoting her new film The Edge of Love, said she "could not have a better part" and working with Crowe and Ridley was "as good as it gets".
The movie is a twist on the classic story, with the Sheriff of Nottingham cast as a sympathetic figure up against a not-so-heroic Robin Hood. Helgeland won an Oscar in 1997 for LA Confidential, which he co-wrote with Curtis Hanson. The movie will also reunite Crowe and Ridley, who worked together on the 2000 movie Gladiator. Crowe went on to win the best actor Oscar for his role as Maximus.

Rhys Ifans is said to be devastated by their split but in a move likely to cause the actor further heartache, Sienna Miller has claimed that they 'were never that serious'.
In a recent interview, the actress hints at her split with the Notting Hill star, admitting that she isn't ready for marriage.
'I really thought I was very ready to settle down, but then I realised I wanted to be selfish for just a little bit longer.
'When I have a child, it will be probably become my whole life, so I don't want to have any regrets that I should have done more. But I'm only 26, I have plenty of time,' she said.

Her former lover has since been spotted moping around London looking like a broken man but Miller is clearly taking their break-up in her stride.
The actress appeared on LK Today with her friend and co-star Keira Knightley to promote their movie Edge Of Love and the pair spent most of the time giggling with each other.
Ifans is reportedly homeless, after selling his house to move in with the actress, and has been sleeping at friends' houses since their split earlier this month.
Celebrity pals such as model Kate Moss have been rallying around the star and are said to be increasingly concerned about his state of mind.

The 26-year-old has already moved on from the relationship and is said to be dating her former lover Brothers And Sisters star Matthew Rhys – who also stars in the film about the life of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.
Miller also speaks about her friendship with her Casanova co-star Heath Ledger in the revealing interview with the Telegraph Magazine, confessing that she has kept a pair of his pyjamas.

'It had been pouring with rain. Heath ran out in the middle of St Marks square and we were running around, and I slipped over.
'We all ran back to his [apartment] and he gave me these dry pyjamas to get home in.'
She kept them for two years until Ledger came to visit her a few months before he died.
'When he came over to my house last November, and he was having trouble sleeping, I gave them back, to help him sleep.
'When he died, I was so sad that I didn't have these stupid pyjamas anymore, so his father found them to give to me,' she said.

I love how they took snippets from the Elle Interview and twisted it so that it makes her look horrible in lieu of the break up. Frankly, whether they've broken up or not, I have never really warmed to the idea of her and Rhys. I don't particularly know why, but he's always rubbed me the wrong way. In any case, without going off topic, I really am looking forward to more promotion for The Edge of Love with Keira, and thanks for the HQ's Marlowe Tiger!

I never realized how tiny Kiera is.
If she looks dainty next to Sienna who is a tiny thing herself she must be.
They both look nice but Sienna's sunnies do make her look like a bit of a goon, IMO.
