Sienna Wins role of Marilyn

Something Awful is reporting that a script about Marilyn Monroe's personal and public life biopic has been picked up by a private production. Sienna Miller, ex-girlfriend of Jude Law and, come fall 2006, playing Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick, has beat out several other top Hollywood players for the vital role of the doomed beauty.

Production is to begin in December 2006.

This cannot be true. It's a major WTF moment in our life.

Come on! Marilyn was the essence of feminity! Sienna is as feminine as a baseball bat!

I'd love to know who those "several other top Hollywood players" were but never the less, I'm shocked. It's even too absurd for just a rumour. Hope it won't come true. Imagine Sienna wearing platinum locks and doing Marilyn for another six months after the filming. Please, no!

Marilyn Monroe was a size 16....that's fact. Sienna is not...that's fact. Marilyn Monroe was known for voluptoius curves...Sienna Miller is not. If this goes through, then it's telling of Hollywood tendancy to erase non-anorexic looking women from history.

if she manages to be a convincing marilyn i would be impressed. but i don't believe it will come to this.

AND i want scarlet johansson's comment on this. now.

zoolander...
you need to credit a source for the original post or this thread will have to go...

thanks...

^I did, SOMETHING AWFUL. It's a website. It was on their private forums.

That is just wrong, she was great for the role of Edie but Marilyn my god,but i also agree Charlize Theron would be great!

She was a vintage size 16. That's like...size 4 or 6 now?

Yup! It bothers me when people do not acknowledge this too. A 16 back then is A LOT smaller than a 16 today thats for damn sure.

As for Sienna playing Marilyn, there's no way it will ever happen.

I'm more concerned with the influx of all these biopics - where have original screenplays gone?????

I mean, ppl who knew Marilyn are still alive and why must they be subjected to some flawed depiction of her??? It's like Gwyneth Paltrow in Sylvia.....Sylvia Plath's real daughter thought the movie really warped the image of her mother. It's just an insult really isn't it.

I agree Susie - it's just a reflection of how desperate and unoriginal Hollywood have begun. The creative spark is lost. They see one bipoic works, and they're all like a bunch of lemmings , frothing at the mouth, ready to make another one.

In re to Sienna getting the role - I highly doubt it. There will be many actresses of higher stock going for this role, plus I wouldn't be suprised if it goes to a virtual unknown. I don't believe Sienna has plausibility to pull that many roles off seeing as she has more prominence as a general tabloid darling.

I think Sienna and Gwynnie are both great examples of how obscure and average actresses can become big in Hollywood: date a famous good looking actor. It actually beggars belief just how huge Sienna has become. It's almost like: Jude who?

^At least Gwyneth can act.....
I agree Roppal.
Sienna has yet to prove herself as a credible actress and already she's being thrusted into these high profile roles - for some actresses, it takes yrs of carefully built up resumes! And why? Because she inspired girls to wear boho skirts for one summer.....:innocent:

not to mention that marilyn has been done to death. and then again. and again. and they dig up the corpse and dance it around again, and it's just not ever that interesting. the best one was the hbo one with ashley judd, because it has a unique POV

^^^I agree, susie. Marilyn's story has been told too many times anyway.

I hope that Sienna doesn't play Marilyn, but I'm against her getting any work at all.

I don't know that much about Edie Sedgewick or how complex her character is written, but Marilyn is not easy to play and not someone that I think Sienna Miller could do justice to.

   Frighteningly, I think that might be the reason why!

Nowadays being a good actress doesn't matter anymore. You can go for years without making a decent movie and it just takes that ONE role to bring you credibility.

Sienna is less of an actress and more of a celebrity hangar on in my opinion. She , along with others, was like a fly to sh*t at the Oscar parties.

Apart from the stage play - which wasn't huge - there is no credibile mainstream performance you can affiliate her with. I still can't believe the way she hogged the limelight over Layer Cake - and apart from it being an appalling film, all she did was take her clothes off on it, and even that required you keeping your eyes long enough without blinking to actually see her in the film.

I'll give her another year or so before she disappears. ;)

if the mom from 7th heaven can do it, than anyone can.

there have been so many cheesy biopics on marilyn, it's ridiculous.

Dont forget that when it comes to Marilyn there is a very thin line betwen acting and imitating and thats where they all get it wrong.I think the role should go to someone unknown, someone that we dont know all trivia about and even then it will be hard to belive her.Marilyn has been done sow many times almost evrey time horrible.Did anybody see a movie called Marilyn&Booby an actress Melody Anderson played her and by my opinion it was the best Marilyn ever done. But i really hated Mira Sorvinos interpretation of Marilyn!
