Simply Vera : Vera Wang for Kohl's

^ Yeah, Kohls is about on-par with JCPenny...

This is a little saddening. First, it was the Wal*Mart ads in Vogue, but now a collection from Wang at Kohls?

That is unbeliavble, but all these designers are taking clues from stella and karl making money from lower lines, ala H&M. What do you all think of this one though?

I think Vera is more-do known for her use of rich fabrics than her shapes. I think if you took her clothes and made them in cotton, or took away the quality, they would be nothing special.

i know, yikes  when i saw the Wal-Mart ads in Vogue, my first thought was if i was really reading Vogue or if i had picked up the wrong magazine...

...but Vera is definately mainstream enough to design for Kohls. most people have heard of her from her bridal collections, no?

Thank you so much for posting this, Vera Wang is one of my favorite designers. I really don't see her and Kohl's as a good match. In fact, I would prefer her to do a less expensive (not necessarily cheap) bridal line. I'm sure the latter would be much more coveted.

^ That's a much better idea.

Unlike many designers, Ms. Wang is not reclusive or shy. She volunteered that her black Prada sweater, worn over Vera Wang leggings, cost $1,000 and was worth the money because its fine gauge ribbing could not be replicated by H&M or Zara. She will also admit that the trend of celebrities taking up fashion design scares her: "I'm only waiting for Lindsay Lohan's fashion collection to come out," she said, and raised her hand in anticipation of a high-five.

"Ten years from now, there may be no real designers left," she said. Amen.

How heartbreaking .

It's not very attractive to me, but I kind of liked her RTW line this spring.
I understand that she wants to appeal to a broader audience (whom I'm a part of), but I rather she'd just stick to what she has.

Oh no... I've been to Kohl's before... awful, awful clothes! They sell lines designed by Daisy Fuentes and like, Hilary Duff.

I hate Kohl's and I was just thinking about it today as I drove past it. It's not as depressing as Wal-Mart, but it's boring and the clothes aren't very nice, either.

I don't like Very Wang that much, but Kohls is definitely an awful store.

I just heard Patrick Robinson (of Paco Rabanne) was doing a Spring ready to wear line for Sears, and that Tom Ford was getting back into the swing of things by doing a Resort Collection for Dress Barn... But you did NOT hear these rumours from me, so Shhhhhhh....

:ninja:

We don't have Kohl's in Washington but blech. I wouldn't want to buy anything from there. It seems almost like a K-Mart to me.

kohl's is such a crooked company. a lot of their stuff is junk leftover from macys, and other big department stores that didnt sell.

they also also got into trouble with exagerating savings which is against the law in my state. they were fined.

so not such a nice company.

Though it's nice that Kohl's is hoping to bring what is normally considered an out of reach line for many to the masses, I hate that designers are downgrading to a. get more people to wear their name, and b. make more money...

Vera Wang+Kohl's....I don't see the problem with it,really. She's pretty mainstream and mind-numbing already, imo. This is a good way to reach her fan base that can't afford her most expensive things.

This post is exactly why many people feel intimidated by stylish people. I live in the midwest and i have impecable style, and personally i think that Kohls is a nice store for girls and guys who can't afford nice clothes that so many of us more fortunate people are able to buy. I really think we need to act together to get the pretentious vibe out of fashion and make it all about looking great again. Anyways, most of the time people act like snobs because they are secretly insecure with their own personal image, expensive clothes won't fix ur self esteem, neither will bashing a store that is trying to bring the style of high end labels to people who can't afford them so we can become a more stylish nation, only you can fix that problem yourself.

ah

what is happening to this industry?
and also don't forget luella is doing her line for target coming out in about two months.
and there are no models doing ads anymore.
selma blair for chanel eye wear
mariah carey for vercase eye wear
madonna, demi, all of them

I do not like Kohls... but there is something huge to be said about someone who can walk into a store confidently, find a fun peice, and Rock it. Props to Vogue for stepping outdside the box... fashion that is afforable to all levels. Love it.
