Simply Vera : Vera Wang for Kohl's

It's funny how this collection is so well received now. I was browsing the first comments made back in 2005 and the venom spewed back then was just so awful. Shame, shame, shame!

The girls over at Regatta know about this site and fersure read this particular thread...so be nice now!

seanut that top looks great on you. The color looks like a peacock to me...which is very luxurious looking.

I agree ... totally amazing how much better the amateur pic looks than the website--theirs look like polyester, seanutbutter's looks like silk ... maybe there's some work for you at kohls.com :p ;)

That outfit is very cute softgrey.

I love the line but my only problem is the sizing. Everything is so large and all the size Smalls are gone whenver I check the store.

i think i have been nice all along actually gabe...:innocent:...

but if we aren't honest..then it's not really very useful to anyone anyway....
so i think it's best if are just ourselves...

^_^...

*waves*...
hey vera...say hi to lori for me...
she is a freaking genius...but she already knows that...:p
and you guys make an excellent team...
:flower:

thanks madhuri...
i am not sure how old you are...
but most adult women who are above the age of 30 need the extra room for comfort imo...
we are less willing to 'suffer' for fashion at this point....
^_^...we want it to look good, but be comfy and easy to take care of...

and i think a lot of older (ie-grown) women are buying this stuff actually...
my friend and i are 40 yrs...
my mom even got stuff...and she hates shopping and hates spending money on clothes...she's 65...and she's slim...
but the sizing is pretty accurate imo of you are trying to reach that broad a market...

a lot of adult women could never shop at h&m for example or zara...
but they are all going after different markets...$$$ and age wise...

but maybe they could add a size x-small?...;)
i just don't want them to start sizing down...i'd rather have something be too big than too small...

softgrey I would never guess you were 40 from that pic. You look super young! You also look positively tiny so I'm guessing you don't need that "extra room" Vera's clothes provide;)

...

ok madhuri...you're my new best friend...:p

...

These clothes look way way wayyy better in photos. I bought the oversized v-neck sweater (in gray), despite it being itchy and somehow shedding over anything it touches. I also bought the ankle boots (black) and knee boots (brown), the flats looked hideously cheap and ugly. The styles are definately cute and the cuts are all right, but the quality just isn't there and it shows.

So she is doing a spring collection as well?

The shirts seem huge, most of them, and those were the smalls I removed from the mannequin! -_- But I figure they're intended to look oversized, and work around it, since I like many of the designs well enough...

i agree....
and i think the whole look of the collection is loose and louche...^_^..

i also agree with fabuylss...
the quality on the knits left something to be desired imo...
i skipped all of those..despite the cute styles...because of the poor quality...

i especially wanted the sweater you are referring to fabulyss...
but my mom said the quality was awful...and refused to get it at kohl's since i cannot get there myself...

i believe there will be a holiday collection and then a spring collection after that...

i think vera is similar to stella mccartney in the sense that they both like that triangle type silhouette (ie volumnious top and tighter pants/leggings on the bottom)

that may explain why the tops are sized so large.

i recall reading something in womens wear daily saying that kohls knew that the smaller sized stuff was selling out in the east coast.

^ Agree about the sizing ... this is part of what makes it work for so many women. But I think people who put it on & don't like the way it looks are missing the point ... you're not supposed to stop there in many cases, you're supposed to style it ;) What I did with my blouse is I'm tucking it in, but it could also be belted (as LaurieAnn is doing with a different Simply Vera piece).

If there's not an XS, there definitely should be ...

And agree about the quality of the knits as posted earlier ... hopefully this is something that will be improved as Mutterlein mentioned. The other thing I'd really like to see is natural fibers in pants and skirts ... there's a wide range of fibers in tops, but the bottoms are pretty much all polyester. I wouldn't mind paying more for a natural fiber--I'm doing it elsewhere, why not buy it from Simply Vera? Rayon, Tencel, wool ... so many options ;)

softie...i saw that shirt online and was debating getting it...
i couldn't tell from the pic how it was supposed to fit...
it looks great on you!
i love how you styled it...^_^

i think you're right about older women (40+) buying this collection...
at the wedding i went to a few weeks ago, someone wore the blue satin dress with the taupe sleeves and jeweled neckline...
it looked great...

and my mom & aunt got a few of the pieces as well...

i am disappointed at the lack of smaller sizes, but i read that they are going to offer more of a range for upcoming collections...

There were some snarky comments at the very beginning ... as there often are about virtually any new line that's announced :innocent:

Hey, some people are just unhappy and negative & are looking to spread the joy. Those people are everywhere & tFS is no exception ;) But you will notice the happy and positive people are here now :D

just a heads up: there are some new items up at kohls.com for the simply vera line...some new tops, a new dress, some of it featuring the new seasonal color palette with red and golds. it looks like there are actually some size 2s as well, for those who think the line is initially sized too large. (too bad that the 20% off everything sale just ended...just have to wait for the next big sale.)

^ Thanks so much for the news--I can't give you karma right now or I would

I took a look ... a few items are missing pix, but I didn't see anything that made my heart beat fast. Some items are using either the same print or same pattern (shape) as items from fall. I noticed there's a purple skirt that's a wool/poly blend ...

softgrey, I liked the dress in the same fabric as your top (except lavender colorway it looked like) ...

ta- ta...
i am pretty sure you were looking at my top actually...

there was no dress......

^ I do believe there was a dress ....
I remember seeing both at the Kohl's near me....
and liking the top but not the dress...
Of course they had the dress in my size but not the top.

Here's the one I mean ... it's new ... is this the same pattern as your top? Similar at any rate ...

^^yeah i think that is the purple version of the same fabric..

soft i tried that shirt on when i went to kohls a while back and it definitely looks better on you than it did on me
*i've also had problems finding sizes though--the shirt i tried on was a medium and was a bit tent-like on me..
just didn't work..

the purple shirt i bought with the ruffled collar is also a medium, but it is definitely very loose and blousy..
the ribbon/flower thing at the waist definitely helps me cinch it in, but i'm going to try and find a way to make it worked tucked in without the sash looking stupid (i.e. nipped in at the sash, a few inches of loose fabric then tight again when tucked into pants)...
i'm gonna work with it a bit more because i really like the color ^_^

eta - and softie, i agree with madhuri..
looking at your pics you look like you're in your late 20s :flower:
