so... you mean tapered pants?...
pants that are fuller at the hip and then get narrower as you approach the ankle..
right?

not stovepipes, which are not pleated and are basically the same narrow width all the way down the leg...like a stovepipe?...

yes?

not really wider at the hips, just that they have the narrow leg, some of these are wider at the hips but I posted them more for the skinny leg

the rag and bone ss08 and the Luella ss08 show the best examples of what I mean¨

so more stovepipe then, not so sure about the terms:blush:

Do you mean sort of like jodphurs..but more tapered ? Some of these look like cigarette leg.

All I know about skinny pants is that I never liked cigarette pants. Denim is the world's favorite fabric (or just America?) As with skinny jeans, I find it best when skinny pants actually work on legs that are actually skinny. Otherwise, you'd be trying too hard. I guess I immediately think of one of my friends who looks great wearing skinny jeans and either flats or low-heel pumps. I graduated with my Associate's in the Arts (hold your applause!) on Saturday. One of my friends (who I didn't know was graduating with me) had on what seemed to be either leggings or skinny pants. More along skinny pants. Anything ranging from flats to pumps would be nice shoe choices for these skinny pants. At the most daring, a pair of high-heel wedge pumps with a slingback and peep-toe design would make a bold statement for those looking to pair these pants with nice wedges.

The silvery pants in Post #1 (second picture) look the best to me. For some reason, I thought of good old Pee Wee Herman with that suit. Only that this model is wearing a silver jacket and silver pants as opposed to Pee Wee Herman's gray suit in the '80s Saturday morning show. The Urban Outfitters pants underneath the second picture in Post #1 look more like leggings than skinny pants. Don't like those very much. The best collection of skinny pants to me are in Post #2 in this thread. They are more like cropped skinny pants, but still a great option for those who want to show a little ankle and maybe some feet when wearing cute sandals. Not too many people casually wear skinny pants as opposed to skinny jeans. I just didn't really know that skinny pants can be every bit as enjoyable to wear as skinny jeans.

I just mean pants of fabric that isn't jeans in a narrow style from the knee down.. no wide legs or bootcut

soft - I just looked up the definition of tapered in swedish and that's probably the right term, thanks:flower:

I understand the look you are trying to describe saann and I too can never find any that are quite right.
The striped pair in the first post look divine!

Zara had them last year as part of their basics , but I haven't been in for a while so I'm not sure if they would still have them. I hope so I want some haha !

Here is a good example of what I mean

I prefer this over skinny jeans so much, but I haven't been able to find a decent pair yet. :( I love the See by Chloe ones.

I too have been very into this trend, just didnt realize it was a trend. (I am always a bit slow on runway looks)
I like all you ladies have searched and searched for a good pair.
As for those See by Chloe's I just bought those!!! So I can let you guys know how they fit as soon as they get here.
Fingers crossed.

Some outfits actually look ok. Pretty 80s/90s like Street_A_Licious said. Unfortunately, some pants look sorta..'boxy'

saan..
the last ones you posted are definitely not tapered...they are truly skinny pants...
what i would call stovepipe...

different than the original ones you posted though...
you see the difference don't you?

i really like both styles for different reasons...
it's a different look altogether...

I love these pants, David Jones stocked black skinny pants at one stage. But my legs were too skinny for them. :( I haven't seen them anywhere else.

so the ones in the third pic are stovepipe and the second one is tapered? ^_^

Yeah I definately see the difference, I was mostly just looking at the slim leg than the look when I posted those, I hadn't really seen the ones on netaporter and browns yet and those were the closest thing to the ones that I had seen on streets.. but I know what you mean

I have abit too thin legs for proper skinny pants :P
I like the trend on some if it's the "My fashion-icon is a cigarette"-style, with a bit of rock, abit of slimane... you get the picture
I re-a-lly detest the baggy-around-the-bum, skiiinny at the ancles though. Especially the jeans where they overdo it to the point of "I-look-like-I-just-Sh*t-myself" (pardon the language) ;)
