Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette

Is there a name for the eye-piece-thing she(kirsten dunst)'s wearing here in this movie?

It looks like she is just wearing a piece of sheer fabric...or tulle in black with eye slits.

This movie is so beautiful. I rewatched it last night, and I was absolutely floored. It's just so subtle.

I have this DVD and the soundtrack. I LOVE it. Absolutely love it. My favorite part is when Tristes Apprets is playing and you start to see the downfall of the monarchy. So moving.

I watch this over and over.

Its just eye candy really, but I love it.

I have a small obsession for MA anyways.

^^Me too! :p I just watched it two days in a row this past week. I love Count Fersen and her Petit Trianon (sp?) phase and my favorite scene is when they're looking at all the fabrics and shoes and "I Want Candy" is playing.

I love this movie more each time I watch it! Also, I feel Fersen gets hotter each time as well;)

My Marie Antoinette obession is part of the reason why I love YOUR name.

I want to buy/rent some of the other movies that were done about MA that are a bit more detailed about her life.

Did you guys read the book that Coppola's movie is based on? It was very interesting.

^ I've just bought the book so can't wait to start it - I understand it has lots of background info on her early life.

^ Yes, I read the book before I saw the movie and have read a few others about her. I really liked the one the movie is based on. There's one that's more about her and Fersen called the Fatal Friendship, that is really good, and a tragic one about her son called the Lost King of France.

The Norma Shearer version is REALLY good, and fills in the historical gaps that the 2006 version had.

Also the Adrian costumes, are so intense, I heard that due to costumes going over budget, they ran out of money for coloured film!

I must read the Antonia Fraser book about her life. I read a biography about her in high school (don't remember the name) but it was SO good. It got me interested in her and France in general.

Question: what is the name/composer of the song played during the wedding dance? It wasn't on the soundtrack.

I have that on my To Read list, along with a few others.

Did anyone read the Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette??

It's fiction, but based on MA's life, and very interesting. The women who wrote it also wrote a Biography on MA, so it kind of mirrors that.
