Sonia Rykiel S/S 09 Paris

Even I, who despises all things pretty and girly, find this insanely fun. I mean, as soon as I saw the Sonia hair jacket by Margiela I got a smile on my face.

The short black and beige striped dress with the giant doll has got to be by Alber Elbaz, and the zebra striped flamenco/cha cha gown has to be by Cavalli.

My guesses:

black/white striped jacket with leather leggings: Gareth Pugh
Brown crimped monoglian lamb jacket: Margiela
Black patent/sheer striped skirt with black poof shoulders and bikini top: Dolce
Black satin pajama with "Holy Sonia" tee: Stella McCartney
Black/nude striped dress with doll: Alber Elbaz

These are tricky!

How come is it that when Sonia Rykiel does this kinda madness everyone falls in love with it but when someone like Heatherette or Betsey Johnson does it its immediately considered crap? I dont get it, this is absolutely dreadful, but i like its theatrical theme

Some of the pieces are quite okay. Others just border on the ridiculous

OMG! Read:

style.com

thanks so much for posting this...which explains everything...
:p....

i admit that rykiel has become a bit of a cliche ...
but in recent years ( i guess because of her daughter's work) i have fallen in love with it and it's charming parisienne love affair....

this is a collection that could get me to wear colour...

^_^...bon anniversaire sonia.......

*i agree with spike that the chacha dress has to be cavalli......
i think the jumpsuit with the ivory blzr and beret is stella
i think the one with the thing tied on her head is gaultier
i think the asian 'twins' is armani...
stripe swtr w/patent legging-givenchy...?
and i agree -the doll has to be lanvin..
:flower:

Because the clothes aren't skanky, wierd or just plain ugly? I'm just guessing.

I just love this. All the smiling models make me happy. And the colours too

I love Heatherette and Betsey Johnson (not so much Betsey as of late... or Heatherette since they haven't done a show for two season now) but when something beautiful is on the runway, you have to respect it. It's not something like Heatherette, this designer is truly unique, and she made a beautiful collection that made me personally feel happy and elated-- despite whatever else is going on in the world. Designers like Dior aren't holding up to me and aren't inspiring me, but Rykiel is so fun and pretty and full of beauty and happiness-- why be mad? :)

The colours are like riding on a rainbow, and it's unique and fun and oh-so-pretty :) <3

I'm a huge Rykiel fan but this is disappointing. I don't know if it is the lighting or the fabric but it all looks very poorly made.

Betsey Johnson does a lot of patent pink, corsets/cleavage, orange tans, hot pink lipstick, tacky jewelry and tutus; and as far as Heatherette goes I never even glance at their collections - eek!

Sonia Rykiel is typically a bit more subtle than that, much classier. It is a fine line though with this collection.

Holy Sonia, wonderful collection and even more amazing show! :buzz: She really made my day, I love her so much!

I love Sonia...
I always look forward to her shows b/c I know it'll be fun...
& the models actually smile and behave like humans...!!!
The clothes are lovely, flirty, and very chic too, of course...
Very charming and exciting...

I love this! Sonia Rykel always put a smile on my face! :) her shows are full of energy, and how cool the dresses that other designers did! I what to know who design each dress!

I love that they all did a dress for her
The Obama knits were by Rodarte, The girl knitting her own dress is Gaultier, the one made of wigs is Margiela, Karl signed his, Holy Sonia is Demeulemeester I think
I really love the trenchcoat(Yohji?) and face dress (I thought that was by Alber but the doll one kinda makes sense)

Does anyone know which one Olivier did? Im guessing he did one, as he was invited to the show. Maybe the full length knitted dress with ladders, the lines kinda remind me of the Rochas layered skirts..
