Hi,

I have been using St Ives scrub for sensitive skin for a couple of weeks now. Its made my skin smoother, but I have now had a major breakout but they are like little bumps. Its horrible.

Anyway, could St Ives have caused this?

Is it really that bad, if so why? ^_^

I've always been off hte belief that you should only scrub maybe once or twice a week. It might irritate your skin otherwise. At least it irritates mine. I usually use a cream cleanser.

Well I only use it about 3 maybe 4 times a week, I normally use it when I have a shower so I can wash it off easily. I dont really want to use it that much, as it is not really intended for every day use.

I was just wondering because some people say it rips your skin to bits.

Nice.

I know a lot of people use it, but I've also heard a lot of negative things about the product (being harse, bad for your skin etc) but wether I read it here or on makeupalley I can't unfortunately recall.

I used to love Apricot scrub, but it was in the end, too harsh. Now I use Dove Daily Exfoliating Cleanser, which is fairly inexpensive and doesn't cause any reactions in my skin

put the apricot scrub down and slowly walk away! every dermatologist and facialist has strongly admonished the use of such scrubs and any rough exfoliators. I'm obsessed with exfoliation and have used everything except sandpaper on my face. but they really do damage your skin and can actually make acne and oil problems worse by overstimulating your glands. now I use this exfoliating cream by dermalogica that gently "eats" away dead skin and leaves your skin smooth and glowing, but not irritated at all.

For me I love this product - I need something with a coarse texture to properly exfoliate my oily skin - just a belief for me. Ive tried others, but was never satisfied

With all things- It depends on how it takes to you.

I have used this product for about 8 years. The trick for me- I only use it once or ever other week , in the shower and i make sure my face and hands are well wet and moist so it doesnt work like sandpaper.

I use a cooling mask after wards- or - after rinsing with warm water- I then re rinse with cold water to close my pores.

When used improperly yes, this product can be very very harsh.

I love this product - as far as I can see, its improved my skin.

It sounds like you use it too often for your skin type... try using it only once a week. Thats how often I use it and it works wonders

used to use it...didn't think it really made a difference either way...
so i stopped...

Yeh I found it was fine on my skin, but just recently i've started using Garnier deep pore wash and it has caused my skin to break out a little more than usual... so i've stopped using it, i think it depends on the skin type...

I used this product a long time ago and at first it was great but then like a day laer I broke out and I never break out. I think it deposits something into your skin...?

I think 3-4 times a wk is way to much to use this product.... try 1-2 times a wk MAX and see if your skin improves- if not then just stop using it.

Yes. I will try that thanks.

I have quite sensitive skin, so I am probably way over doing it. I cant remember what it says on the back of the tube, I cant remember if it says use daily. I am not sure. It was ok for a while, but now it just seems to be making things worse.

i know this product has got some negative reviews but i love it ... especially the one for sensitive skin. I literally feel the difference after using it and I don't break out either but I don't use it very often ... about once or twice every 2 weeks.

yes, please cut back on how often you're using it, especially since your skin is sensitive. you shouldn't be using it more than once a week.

I think a lot of it is on the normal condition of your skin. If your skin is normally pretty dry, then I'm sure this product hasn't helped matters.

I think St. Ives is horrible!!!!!!!! I use Dermalogica scrub, they have a daily scrub that is way more gentle. I have combonation/sensitive skin and it works sooo good!

I use it on my nose to help with blackheads, and then on my arms and feet and such, but no where else on my face besides my nose. It's much too harsh.

I think those exfoliating grains are dangerously large!!! Maybe for your body but i think it is too harsh for your face.

I bought it a while ago and it's been working fine for me... I don't use it very often...
But after reading all this, I'm kinda scared now:cry:
I don't know if I should keep on using it... I don't want my skin to break out...
