J. Crew’s goal is to create classic, American sportswear with a modern twist. What does this mean? It means they cater to the modern woman who takes classic basics and creates her own individual look. J. Crew is always sophisticated and chic; some might even call it preppy. The only thing that is certain is that there is a J. Crew piece for everyone.
The ad – Anja captures the spirit of the young, sophisticated J. Crew woman. She loves the outdoors, nature & staying active.
The Make-Up – Why stray from the classics when you know they work? The J. Crew woman doesn’t experiment with neon green eye-shadow and bright orange lipstick, she sticks with what she knows shows off her best features. You never know who you might be having lunch with. Her idols are Grace Kelly for her understated beauty & Audrey Hepburn for her joie de vivre.

It challenges girls to stay Earthy, stay natural, and channel
the hippie-chic within us all. Earth-based tones surround most
of the clothing, punctuated with stunning and vibrant color
creating a young vibe due to the contrasting elements. So, grab
your headband, flats, and oversized coat--the boho revolution
is here to stay.
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.
THE STYLE THAT STARTED IT ALL.
bold pants. baggy jacket (sure to have too many zippers).

I’m really, reeeaallly impressed with this! You absolutely captured the spirit of American apparel, and magda really worked this out to make me feel like she’s definitely the muse of this company. The ad has just the right amount of overt sexuality, the makeup has just the right amount of makeup to know that she’s not actually barefaced, even though It lookes like it, and the attitude captures the young spirit of the brand. Great job!
Mafiosa with anja—The spirit of this is so impressive.
I shop at J. Crew semi-frequently, but I get the catalog and I know the preppy, east-coast vibe that the brand has. The first picture is so perfect for this! The bright colors, the neutral-toned clothes, and the really subtle sensuality. The makup is perfect, because it captures that sophistication…anja’s awesome haircut helps too! And finally, those sort of envious good looks in street pictures like this are what j crew aspires to create. You did a wonderful job!
Moofins with andi—in saying the boho breakdown, I saw that you understood what I was looking for! I don’t really usually think of andi as boho, so I knew this would be a challenge. I think the street style picture is my favorite, because it’s soo natural and so genuine and a very unique taste on boho, just as free people likes it! The makeup photo is so adorable! It’s perfectly natural, and andi looks great. The ad is so great! The vobe of the picture is so bohemian, with her sunkissed skin and wispy hair. You really got this one. Nice job

The Final Challenge!
Alright girls, the last challenge has finally come about.
The competition is fierce, and veeeery close...trust me!
For this final challenge, I struggled with figuring out what I wanted to see. I want something fun..editorial and fantastical and whimsical. But at the same time I want something fierce, with edge and attitude and proof that your girl can be serious and intense. It's summer so I want something beachy, something along the lines of those really amazing beach editorials that daria werbowy does that aren't nasty or mens magazine-ish...rather they make anyone want to know her. I want a true expression of who your girl is...a muse, a punk, a smoker, an elf...whatever! Because i want to know everything about your girl.
So these are your only guidelines!
Make sure you use 3 pictures, whichever three you like. Prove to me that you deserve to win!
You have a week.
