Suspenders

I've had my suspenders for about 5 months now but I haven't worn them since late April I think. I'm just out of ideas as to how to wear them.. I prefer them with shirts and trousers or jeans but it gets boring quickly.

Question... if I'm going to buy a pair of suspenders that are not the gross clip-on kind, will they only attach to pants specially designed for suspenders?

i see a lot of ppl here in sydney r wearing them, bcoz most chain stores r selling them in basic red, black n white, but i'm still wearing my ones which i got ages ago from japan (i have skinny pink striped ones and yellow and black polka dots, they're awesome ) and when i did wear them, every1 kept on giving me this weird looks, i was like 'whatever...' and now i see girls wearing them now, mainly with skirts.
