10 minutes with… Tahnee Atkinson
After winning Australia’s Next Top Model, Tahnee Atkinson hasn’t just been sitting around basking in the glory. She’s been hard at work modelling in shows for Myer, Alex Perry and the Sydney Fashion Festival. Now she’s striking a pose for label Milk and Honey’s new range in Myer.
We caught up with the fresh-faced Perth-born beauty to talk about life after ANTM and moving to New York...
Is it fun doing so many shoots and shows?
I love it. I think it’s really fun. I like it when I’m busy because I don’t have time to miss anyone or get homesick.
Are you a fan of Milk and Honey?
Yes, I love them. [Their clothes are] easy to wear. You can get some clothes that you don’t know what to wear with it, but Milk and Honey is really trendy and a good price range. It just goes with everything else in my wardrobe.
Are you getting more modelling work in Sydney than in Perth?
Definitely. I couldn’t believe it. In Perth I’d probably be doing something once every two weeks, and here I’m going to castings, fittings, photo shoots or shows every day.
What’s next for you?
I’m about to head to New York. I’m meeting agencies over there – I’m staying for a week, then I’m going to come back to Sydney and stay here for a while. But hopefully next year I’ll go back [overseas].

...Rounding out a good turn-out from Australia's Next Top Model was this year's winner Tahnee Atkinson, 17, who has just returned from New York where she was shockingly told to come back in a few months, when she has lost weight. Showing her sensible attitude, she related this story with self-deprecating good humour. She also revealed that fellow Australia's Next Top Model contestant Mikarla Hussey, 17, was pregnant to a new boyfriend.
